I have actually been productive today. I ironed some shirts. 'Tis a cool day so a good day to iron I reckon. Dindin shall be ham steak, scalloped N.O.T. (not from a box even!) peas 'n carrots, and rolls. The scalloped N.O.T. are essentially ready. I just need to grate some cheese on top, pop 'em in the oven and let the cheese get all melty. So cookage will commence once OYKW gets here as it won’t take more than half an hour to get it all done. Easy and tasty just like the way I like my men.
rosie yay for bein’ on the mend. Or at the beach. Apparently there are two schools of thought on your whereabouts.
I got an email from irk asking me for extra hours next week.
My raise starts next week and they are expecting to be busy. The last couple of weeks have been slow so I was counting on next week to make up for it. They have also been quite pissy about people taking time off. I’ve gotten a few emails, not directed at me because I’ve been good. Their point is clear though, just because it’s the holiday season doesn’t mean you get time off.
That was all good until I just got the news that Sah-son’s finals are due next week and all the exams are at the college. He can put the math exam off until the 14th. He is taking a Geology test this weekend, then the final is two tests back to back with 5 hours allowed for the first one and three hours allowed for the second one. Based on the other tests, it won’t take him the full 8 hours, but we still have to allow for it because you never know. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know what is going on in Psychology other than a paper and the final are due the last week, which is really the week of the 12th. Maybe he will have the next week for that stuff - who knows. That professor was sick the first week of class and in a car accident the second week, all the assignments and due dates have been off. He is late every week with posting that week’s assignments and unlike the other professors, he doesn’t post anything ahead so you can prepare and schedule. At least that class has been easy for him.
He needs to get his license and stop depending on me for transportation.
Ugh, now I have to figure out how I’m going to fit all this in. I have a feeling we’ll be having a lot of pizza nights next week.
Yep time for MMM, but that does me no good this week.
I could put him in a cab.
I’m trying to talk him into taking his math final this weekend.
I’m ready to kill him right now. I just bought him three pairs of pants and even though they fit he doesn’t want to wear them because they have a drawstring. There is only a certain kind of pant he will wear, and they have to be in black, and they usually don’t have drawstrings. I told him to tuck the strings inside or cut the strings off or pull them through if he doesn’t want them to show, the waistband is elastic so the pants will stay up.
Now I have to take a mis-delivered package to a neighbor. I almost opened it, then I noticed the name isn’t mine. It belongs to the house 5 doors down. That can wait until tomorrow.
To top it off I just got a notice from OnStar that I need an oil change and have 0% oil life left. WTF!!! Last month I had 82% oil life left, a 150 mile trip to the armpit should not have changed it that much. Further inspection shows I still have 80% oil life, however it has been a year since my last oil change.
The oil change can wait until after the craziness.
sunny, my ex-MIL used to make mincemeat pie with the fruits, venison and suet. She took the recipe to her grave though. I really doubt that she ever wrote it down.
swampy, ironing shirts? You gotta job interview or what?
sari, if it’s been a year since your last oil change, that’s why OnStar alerted you. Most mechanics will recommend that you change oil a couple of times a year, even if you don’t put 3-5K miles on your vehicle.
The kitchen is clean (except for the dishes, which I’ll do after supper), the bathroom is clean, towels are in the dryer and the place is dusted. Go me!
Actually cleaned up, dressed and got out of the house, the light in the refrigerator went out so I went the Batteries plus Bulbs store (and yes, it is a thing: Batteries Plus - Wikipedia) and they had the replacement, then to the wally-mart for a telephone jack splitter, then to the Credit Union to deposit a sum and also transfer my “New Car” CD to a separate savings account, so when I do go looking in 2017, the funds won’t be tied up.
After all that activity (such as it was and what there was of it), I took a nap and did some reading. Internet viewing will occupy the next several hours.
red I have some nice long sleeved shirts that are one hunnert percent cotton. I wear them to such places as the church house and/or when I attempt to look some what shevelled and kempt. I wear them in cooler weather, thus they have not been ironed since they were last washed. They have lived in my laundry room. I still have more to do. Also, OYKW has one hunnert percent cotton shirts but is the type of ironer that manages to add wrinkles instead of subtract 'em. Thus, I iron. Sometimes.
On that note I shall betake myself to the boudoir where OYKW has already betaken himself to watch teevee until sleepy time.
Yes, cab or Uber. You need to work, and he needs to figure out how he’s going to get to school. I think Uber is cheaper, but I haven’t tried it. My husband uses it often for work and seems to like it.
Well, I ended up having to go into work, so I didn’t get to see the game. Canes’ blew it in any case. I made a quick dinner of sauteed Andouile sausage with peppers and onions on a bed of saffron rice. Maybe I am off tomorrow.
:dubious:
If you are still sober with all the whiskey and rum distilleries, and the breweries in the Nashville area, you have no one to blame but yourself.
sari, yeah it’s driving lesson time.
swampy, I tossed my iron last move, in keeping with the "throw it out if it hasn’t been used in 6 months(Gordie’s brain is an exception to that rule )
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 37 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 67 and N.O.S. for the day. I shall attack the leaves in the front yahd at some point today after it warms up. Shouldn’t be to much of a task as it involves blowin’ leaves out from under trees and then mulchin’ 'em with the mower. Beef Stroganoff for dindin tonight with sallit and garlic bread.
OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, well, onward into the day!
Yawn. Very glad it’s Friday. Last night it took the stylist almost three hours to do my hair because the color didn’t take at the roots. I also cut about three inches off, so much of the crunchy old-bleach part is gone now. But I look pretty cute.
I actually have three irons at home … but they’re all because of sewing and quilting projects, I very rarely use them on actual clothing. Because I’m lazy and I usually don’t care if my shirts are a little wrinkly.
The sun is shining but it’s going to be a chilly day.
Oh I just noticed it is the birthday of the female HFH, I wonder if she can see my one finger salute from here.
We sat down and made up a schedule this morning, so I’m feeling less stressed. We’ll do the finals over the weekend even though the testing center isn’t open for 8 hours on Sat or Sun. I doubt it will take him the full 8 hours. I don’t know why his Geology professor put the two tests back to back back anyway. One of the tests is the general assessment required by the college and usually he can take that at home. It shouldn’t take anywhere near 3 hours.
I was hoping I could put off a grocery run for another week, but we’ll go Sunday.
The oil change can wait until after all the finals, but needs to be done before the 17th when I have to go to Baltimore for the family party. I think you’re right Red that I got the notice because it’s been a year. This time I’ll mark it on the calendar for the next year so the notice doesn’t take me by surprise.
Now if his Psych professor would just post the dates for everything I could finish the schedule. He has two quizzes left for that class, the last one has to be at the testing center.
Then we can talk about him getting his license. I think he should take driver’s ed again since it was several years ago that he took it. The hard part is taking him out driving, and I think I’m the wrong person for that. Maybe if I close my eyes?
I have to figure out something for Cat. I think he’s bored. He sits in front of me and stares at me to get my attention but I don’t know what he wants. Occasionally he sticks his claws in my knee.
He has food, and water, and canned food, and clean litter, and treats. I try to play with him but he has no interest in any of his toys. I don’t know what else to get for him. He’s bored with the laser, the jingle balls, the paper balls, the feather on a pole, the ball that dispenses treats, the ball that hangs from the scratching post. He has no interest in boxes or bags. He doesn’t want to be pet.
As much as he’d enjoy it, I’m not going to go out and buy mice for him.
