Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 66 and N.O.S. for the day. The front that came through yestiddy has cooled down the temps. No big plans for the day. I need to go to the sto’ which is a chore and I shall also go to the liberry. Ham steaks and whatever I decide to go with 'em will be dindin. I shall procure tickets for the Kiwanis pancake brekkie on Sattidy as well. All one can eat pancakes, bacon, and snausage. What’s not to love!
MOOOOOOM I have dreams about the house I grew up in as well. Weird thing is the dreams all take place on the front porch. That house had (has cause it’s still there and occupied) a hyuuuuuuuuuuuuuge front porch. Just strange that I’m never inside the house in any of those dreams.
Spidey yay for continued employment!
OK I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify before venturin’ out into the public.
My natural color has faded to something I will optimistically call dark auburn. My roots don’t even look red anymore, just brown with silver here and there. If I knew it would grow in silver, I might give it a shot, because that could look pretty bitchin’. But it will probably be regular old gray/white, and that’s less cool. Not to mention the snide comments I’d get from my 95-year-old grandma, who has apoplexy every time she sees me and my hair is not the exact red she remembers it being the day I was born. (Everyone say it with me - “I had four children, and eleven grandchildren, and now I have thirteen great-grandchildren, and you’re the only one who had your grandfather’s red hair. Why do you do this?”)
Moooom, a lot of my dreams take place in the backyard of my childhood home. Haven’t lived there in 25 years, and probably stopped spending time in that backyard at least 30 years ago because my reading tree was in the front yard. Brains is weird.
Gotti, wish I’d known that Dawn thing when I was trying to remove all the blue from my bleached hair. But now I know for next time!
The pneumonia is clearing up nicely. Let’s just assume I said all the right things over the last two days, including birthday wishes, because once the Benadryl kicks in, I’ll be lost to the world for the rest of the day
OK, I don’t want to start unfounded rumors or anything, but has anyone actually seen **rosie **in this alleged “hospital”?? How do we know she’s not getting wasted in some tropical paradise, too busy with her cabana boys to post here? Doesn’t that strike anyone else as a suspicious possibility, or just me???
Getting 'Beamette off to school, then I get to go back to bed for an hour before I take 'Beamer to the orthopedic surgeon dude and get him (more) fixed up.
Today is going better. Since no one knew I was coming back, I’ve been getting a lot of shit work to do, stuff that no one really has time to do and that would normally be farmed out to a temp to do. Starting Monday, when people come back, there may actually be real work for me to do because there will be people to train me. I do now have computer access and a badge, so at least there’s that. Also, all the stuff I had saved from before is still here, so yay!
On the plus side, I also now has plenty of mince pies, 'cos I just made them. Am eating them hipster style (before they’re cool), but haven’t burnt my tongue yet, which is an improvement on last year.
Nut we may have discussed this before, but are your mince pies old school (with actual meat in the mince) or new style (fruit and spices and such)? My mom loves mince pies, but the rest of the family has a long list of requests this time of year, so she always makes one pie out of stubbornness and mutters to herself.
I got my new [del]toy[/del] block printer for the studio last night. I’ll need to go the art supply store this weekend for two more lino knives, a barren and some lino. I already have inks that can be used. Next week, it’s playtime!
Working on a couple of ongoing projects today, but not much else is shaking.
I don’t believe I have ever met an actual old school meat mince pie, just the modern fruit version. I’ve seen recipes, which did include meat, fruit and spices, but they certainly aren’t common here, whereas the modern meatless ones are ubiquitous.
I don’t actually make my own filling (at least, I never have yet), though I am making up for that a bit now 'cos I decided to make some mulled wine to go with them, and that is with my own homebrew W have freezing fog out there, sitting in with hot spicy wine and a film seems like a good plan!
Just met the new boss man. He comes to us via NASA, Lockheed, and BAE Systems. He wanted the small company experience. He’s been in this area for 9 years, and he went to Rutgers - he was a Joisey resident.
So we shall see how it goes. He seems pleasant enough.
And it’s just about time for me to split. Thinking I might stop on the way home and grab something for supper. Decisions, decisions…
