And Harli, that is very true. But, since most things are merely annoyances, I decided to pick one and get bitchy about it. 
When I read the OP I got the impression that it might apply in two situations:
- Like the example dantheman gave earlier, where someone is opining about how another well known poster would respond (usually negatively):
- Or when the poster mentions another poster with the intention of bringing them into the thread. coughvanitysearchcough I’ve seen this several times, a typical example being similar to:
“Well, this is a very interesting topic, I’m sure PosterXYZ will be along to comment - they know a lot about it.”
I think some people just do this instead of emailing PosterXYZ to point the thread out to them.
…And to clarify my opinion, I find the first to rather annoying but I don’t mind the second.

I think what’s bugging the OP is that the hijackers will be along anytime a touchy catch phrase is used in a post.
Start a post about Rush Limbaugh doing football commentary.
Sombody mentions Al Franken’s book, the title of which refers to Limbaugh as fat (or not…depending on your take:rolleyes: )
Next thing you know your ESPN sportscaster debate is a fat debate. This is just an example…the example thread had not yet dissolved into a full on fat fest last time I read it.
Happens all the time…somebody will inevitably come along to plant their PC flag in any post which touches their nerve du jour, regardless of the resulting tangent the thread will take.
Not just a drive by with a snarkey comment, but a whole thread hijack to (once-a-fucking-gain) state their position on why said catch phrase offends them…like we missed it the last 10-fucking-thousand times.
And the repetition of these hijacks/stances is what breeds the predictability of certain posters to show up, just to make sure we get the point…again.
I’m surprised people are asking the OP for links, since this sort of thing seems to happen all the time. I’ve often seen people post things like “Just wait for all the gays to come along and start crying that they’re being oppressed” or “Better watch out for the liberals/conservatives/Christians/atheists/dog lovers/whatever”.
It’s more unusual for names to be named, but here’s a really long GD thread on abortion that I remember well because my name an unusually high number of times. Beginning on page 2 and continuing on for several pages, more than one poster was wrongly called by my name. By page 5, after people had expressed their confusion at being called by a name not their own, someone else was asking “Just which one(s) is(are) Lamia?” and saying that we all just “blur together”. I’m not sure how I could “blur together” with anyone in that thread, since I never posted to it! I would never have even read if it hadn’t kept popping up my vanity searches for days.
I was initially inclined to consider this an honest mix-up, but since it went on even after people questioned it I’m not so sure. I had been participating in a similar abortion thread earlier that week that I abandoned after it got a little too nasty for me. Since some of the same posters were involved in the later thread I can’t help but suspect this was an attempt to draw me out again. But since I didn’t rise to the bait at the time I guess I’ll never know.
