The Incredible Mr. Limpet cruiser ID

The Incredible Mr. Limpet just played on TCM. Now before you jump in and say, ‘Cruiser! The ship was a destroyer!’ that’s not the ship I’m asking about. The destroyer was USS Alfred A. Cunningham (DD-752). I’m asking about a cruiser.

In the climactic scene where Mr. Limpet turns the German torpedoes back on the U-Boats, there’s some stock footage of a cruiser. The footage is shown twice. Unfortunately, I could not make out its number. I thought I saw missile launchers aft, so it may have been USS Providence (CLG-6) or USS Oklahoma City (CLG-5). I don’t think it was USS Little Rock (CL-4) or USS Springfield (CG-7).

Does anyone have this film on DVD, and have the ability to see the number on the ship?

It is a 6. Very clear the first time they show the ship (once the water plumes go down). The second time the number is already off screen.

Providence, then. I only rewound the second time. The number is on the stern, but it’s blurry.

Thanks.
