Cap’s shield is a vibranium-iron alloy, created in a process that has never been successfully duplicated. Attempts to recreate the experiment, however, led to the invention of adamantium, which, while extraordinarily durable, is still weaker than both vibranium and Cap’s vibranium alloy shield.

It’s been described both ways, but yours is the presently correct one. It has a sloppy and retconed history.

So 6vs6? Movie Avengers vs Any Jedi? Ok, here is my pick. 5 younglings plus Galen Marek. Give the younglings some credits to go see a pod race. Starkiller (Marek) takes out Hawkeye, Widow and Cap almost instantly in whatever means he feels like at the time. Snaps of the neck, decapitation, lightning, lightning charged decapitation, etc. The only challenge with the decap option is Cap’s shield, but Starkiller has two sabers he can control independably with the Force, so not that hard. Actually Iron Man wouldn’t be that hard either. Starkiller, being a video game char, is actually really, really, really stinking overpowered. His strongest talents are really his telekinesis and force lightning. Both of which he uses pretty much effortlessly. He can snatch a SuperStardestroyer out of space and slam it into the ground. Not sure exactly what he would do with Hulk except hang him from his toes and shock and throw lightsabers at him until he is bored. He could do the same to Thor except for the whole hammer thing. Pretty sure Thor could take him if the Force can’t affect the hammer.

I’m still not sure what the Jedi would do if Iron Man just flew over them and dropped gas grenades. I mean, that’s not stretching too much, is it? He can certainly fly, and even if he doesn’t already have gas grenades in one of his suits, he can get some easily enough.

I think Stark is key to this battle. Not merely because he has a much better ranged weapons than Cap, Widow, or Hawkeye, but because unlike the other two powerhouses on the team, he’s going to actually be afraid – or at least chary – of the lightsabers and act accordingly. He’ll see the swords light up and think “Hmm – I wonder if those things can cut through my armor? You know, I think I’d rather not find out. Best attack via repulsor. Wait, that hot blue chick just batted away my repulsor beam. Okay, let’s try ultrasonics–from a distance.”

Except in her earliest incarnations, even a non-Phoenix Jean Grey is much, much more powerful a telekinetic than any Jedi. And I doubt any of them can apply enough, ah, force to choke the Hulk, any more than Cap could successfully use a choke hold on him.

Yeah, but the Jedi have FTL vessels, and could tractor beam the Hulk into the sun in less time than it takes for the Avengers to gather their flock of loose cannons.
I’m gonna say it depends on who has the advantage of surprise/preparation, you let either side get all set up to fight their battle their way and they win.

Sort of like Astronauts versus Cavemen…
