I spent yesterday working out in the garden and I don’t know if I have an allergy to something or if I got bitten, but my arms and legs are covered in hives today and I’m dying of the itch.
I called the doc and he phoned in a cream for me. It makes the itch even worse. Does anybody have any remedies? Anybody want a date tonite with a big red blotch?
have you tried putting the cream in the freezer for a while? this usually helps my itchies. Also, I have become a firm beleiver in Aveeno’s anti-itch lotion. It’s not nearly as runny as caladryl or those sorts of lotions. It doesn’t seem to help the itching at first, but after a few minutes, it really seems to help. Plus, it has camphor in it to dry up those weepy itchies. If no cream works-- plain ice or an ice pac really helps the itch for me. Sure, it kind of numbs the area, but when I’m itching so bad that I want to scratch my leg off, numb is better than itching. well, Hope this helps.

This may sound weird, but try oatmeal. Make some oatmeal and let it cool some before putting it on (don’t want to add a burn on top of the itch). As it dries, it helps the itching subside. My mother did this to me once when I had a run in with some poison ivy. It really worked.
Thanks guys!! I just got out of an oatmeal bath, have taken some benadryl and will wait till it kicks in… the itch isnt as bad as it was. Vestal Blue, you are the man of my dreams
Sealemon, now that I have taken the Benadryl, I can’t drink but hey I’ll keep that in mind for next time!
Try heat…either with your blow dryer or hot water…make it as hot as you can stand it. Just be careful…don’t burn yourself. It will make it itch like hell for a few seconds then it will stop. Again be careful not to burn yourself.
You might go back to the yard & look at what you were brushing against. Poison Ivy, poison sumac, poison oak? You’d be surprised how some of those are just coming out of the ground now. Or Sue, you could come here & I would coat you with chocolate from head to toe & lick it off, that would do it.
