The 'I've got a feeling 21 is going to be a good year' MMP

MetalMouse - the bread was pretty good. It was really crusty when it came out of the oven, but it softened pretty quick - maybe I should have cooled it on a rack instead of leaving it on the pan? Still, hard to beat freshly baked bread with butter!!

Roxy was in rare form tonight - possibly on cocaine! :open_mouth: She was going 90 miles an hour from the time we arrived, and I got dragged (literally) down the hall to her room at least 4 times. She was also very affectionate - I got tons of unasked-for hugs and kisses from her. She should sleep well - I know I will!

In fact, if I’m not in bed before 10, it’ll be a miracle. I’s tahred, and I didn’t do that much today! Not sure what tomorrow holds, besides the threat of rain. We shall see what happens. So in case the world ends before I get back, Happy New Year!!! :kissing:

Just finished dinner: Prime rib sandwich (prime rib, lettuce, and mayonnaise on low-carb bread), dill pickle spear, smoked almonds, Tillamook medium cheddar cheese, and Santorini Sunrises (like a tequila sunrise, only with ouzo instead of tequila).

Tonight’s dinner is Asian BBQ chicken with green tea ginger rice, and broccoli with garlic and Szechuan peppercorns. Had a martini earlier. I do have collards and blacked peas, (but the canned stuff). I usually don’t do collards and blackeyed peas, but after this year I will be eating them, while saying a Rosary, smudging the apartment, and doing a voodoo ritual. :rooster:

Oddly enough I was introduced to it by a Belfast Catholic.

My roommate loved this. Made her sputter her ramen. Yep, we eat fancy here on NY Eve. Mac and cheese for me.

Now in my jammies and robe, sipping a magic [spiced rum] hot apple cider.

Had a fun afternoon and early evening with Harriet. She and I took down the little [5 foot] Christmas tree in the basement viewing cave/playroom. She mostly ran around, I made myself sad putting away Christmas. Then we sat on the couch, snuggled and read books on my library ipad app. I put her to bed and slipped away home while her folks continued celebrating their anniversary in the viewing cave, presumably watching a grown-up [not Disney] movie and eating popcorn.

The first fireworks went off in my neighborhood at 7:50p. There will be lots more. Saving my Barefoot Bubbly til midnight. There may be eating of a bowl of lucky ice cream before then.

Ow. My injection site is sore.

To all you mumpers, in case I fall asleep before midnight. You all were the very best part of my year, by far. Thank you :clinking_glasses: :champagne: :clinking_glasses:

Thanks, missred, I’m still here, just not as often in the MMP. Maybe I should come back. Yay, someone remembers my birthday!

Happy Birthday! and welcome back!

Howdy Y’all! Yep I am still up. Not for long though, as the sleepies are upon me. I think the ka*booms are settlin’ down even. Got the cheese cake made, collard greens cooked, and stuff prepped to cook tomorrow so productivity was accomplished.

OK, time for beddy bye.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

[Leaning against the wall in a dark corner of the room with a beer in hand, surveying the crowd and catching little snippets of conversation. Waves briefly and makes a comment about an earworm. Conversation stops and the crowd turns and looks.]

Ermahgerd, they’re talking to me!

I’m only afraid of not keeping up with the speed of the conversation. A 5 and 3 year old keep me away from the computer a lot of the time.

As I get older I discover I’m becoming more tolerant of new music, not that the Black Eyed Peas are new.

Thanks. You would be welcomed with open arms… and a careful inspection of your vaccination documents.

Kiwi will do thank you. And thank’s for another earworm, :musical_note: On a dark desert highway… :musical_note:

So New Years Eve was fun. I was in bed trying to sleep but could hear several parties. Each had a slightly different clock so we heard “5, 4, 3, 2, 1, HOOORRAAAAY YEAH WOOHOO!” multiple times spread over a few minutes.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Let’s make it a good one.

Happy new year!

If all goes well, my dad will be going home on Saturday. He’s on Ensure clear. He was asked if he wanted peach or berry, and he got apple. According to the website there’s Blueberry Pomegranate or Mixed Fruit. At least he’s allowed to drink liquids. He’s going to ask when he’s allowed coffee.

No big plans for the today. Meals will be leftovers. My favorite!

It appears the world didn’t end in a fireball, so Happy New Year!!

As expected, I crashed early, and if there were any fireworks around here, I didn’t hear a thing. Slept thru till after 4, which I count as a win these days.

My new year starts with a sink full of dishes that I didn’t bother loading into the dishwasher last night - guess that’s chore #1. I’ll probably push the vacuum cleaner around - #2. Then down to the basement to continue organizing RoxyLand. SIL asked me to keep her on Moanday, since daughter goes back to work and he’s got a meeting to find out (we hope) when he’ll go back to work. The base has its own rule, separate from the state’s, so we can’t even speculate intelligently.

We shall also dine upon leftovers - I know there’s bean soup and some ribs in the fridge. Tomorrow, I think I’ll make some N.O.T. soup. I dunno - too early to think about such things. I barely finished my toast.

FCD’s business year ended with good news, tho. Someone found some money to pay him for this last report he’s been rasslin’ with. It doesn’t cover all his time, but it’s still a decent chunk of hours, so he’s happy. And I guess as of today, he’s no longer an LLC. He’ll work as an independent contractor when needed, but theoretically, he’s retired. We’ll see if that lasts…

And thus begins the new year at FairyChatEstates. May 2021 be kinder to us all!

Happy Firday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis ::snerk:: 69! ::snerk:: Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 73 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for the day. This is way too warm for this time of year. This kind of warm can mean nasty weather such as tornadoes or straight line winds, neither of which is desired. Anywho a bunch of dark green and yellow stuff is headed our way from Alabammy. This bein’ NYD, we shall perform the traditional feast. JDD and Partner should be over around eleven for the traditional imbibin’ of Bloody Marys. We shall feast around oneish. Thus, we have our plan of the day.

kiwi glad to have you amongst us. We tend to be kinda nice with subtle hints of naughty, so enjoy!

Die here’s hopin’ your dad does get sprung today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, I suppose I should make myself presentable and at some point begin the makin’ of the feast. It takes work to be the host with the most!

Happy New Year/Firday Y’all!

Subtle hints??? What are you smoking, dude???

The year is 7 hours old in this time zone, and so far, so good.

Afternoon, mumpers, and happy 2021 to us all! We seem to have imported all of our neighbours from various parts of eastern Europe, but they also seem to celebrate new year as it hits their home country…so the garden parties and fireworks start up when the far reaches of Russia sees 2021, and continues at hourly intervals as it progresses across Europe and finally reaches GMT. Since the rules are ever-changing, and there was nowhere open in the city centre, we saw quite a lot of blue lights passing by as the police presumably got called to shut down any partying that was going on illegally. What a night…we stayed in, drank champagne and watched films instead.

Today the weather app says “Fuck a duck. It’s chilly and fucking icky outside” and promises me 3C/37F as a constant today. That’s as high and as low as we will have, so I suppose that might mean a slight thaw in the snow and ice outside. It’s still not a going out day as far as I’m concerned. I am halfway through a book, so I plan to veg on the sofa and finish reading it, and also to call a friend to see how she’s doing.

So far, 2021 is not too bad…

Someone near where my daughter lives is giving away a baby grand on craigslist. There was a time when I’d have killed to have one. Now, not so much. The piano I have has become little more than a child’s toy, tho I have hopes that Roxy will want to learn to play it some day.

But a baby grand would be so cool…

Gooooooooood Morning 2021!!! Went to bed about 90 minutes prior to the new year, and if there were loud celebrations, I didn’t hear them. Woke up to rain and there may be rain most of the day, but it’s already 64F and supposed to get into the 70’s for January. Also reviewed my checking account and there is a $13.55 deposit that for the life of me I can’t figure out. Still pending, so maybe there will be more info forthcoming.

Everybody have a good start to the New Year…and hope we don’t get fooled again (another earworm for you, Kiwi)

Happy new year/Friday all!

I stayed up on a chat until midnight, until things had stopped going ‘boom’ and the neighbours had stopped making so much noise- I don’t think they actually had a party, I think it was just the two of them and a lot of booze.

The weather’s a lot nicer today- crisp and cold, sunnyish- but I have very little inclination to go out, for some reason. Instead I’m sorting through the book hoard to try and thin it out a bit, only problem is all the places I normally donate books to are shut, and I just can’t throw them straight out.

It has been announced that we’re irking from home next week- no teaching, no coming in. I have no idea how this is supposed to work, given what I need to do, but at least it means I get a lie-in, don’t have to deal with people or dress like a grownup and can avoid the 8 hours driving I have been doing a week. I’ll count that as a win.

Straight up, the weirdest, quietest, least festive NYE I can ever recall. Not surprising but still trying to process it.
