The 'I've got a feeling 21 is going to be a good year' MMP

I’m probably jumping the gun, but I’ve never started one of these before. (And I’m anxious for the year to be over.)

I think 2020 was my fault.

Last year, I forgot – for the first time – to make black-eyed peas, and collard greens, for New Year’s Day.

I’m sorry. :frowning:

Love the title you chose! But I could do without the earworm…

It’s Moanday morning somewhere, so it was just a little jump!

Still an hour to go for Nut and boofae – do we have any mumpers in Oz or NZ?

GuanoBoy hasn’t been around of late, but he lives over yonder.

Who said that

I never do, and have never had a year like this one, so I really don’t think it was you.

@FairyChatMom, what earworm?

I’m just an MMP lurker. NZ based.

You WERE a lurker. Now you’re an MMPer. “One of us, one of us, we accept him, one of us.” (grin)

Nettie - it`s from Tommy. I think it was sung by Tommy’s parents. It’s been a while and I don’t feel like looking it up.

Since I’ve never seen/heard that, this would explain why I missed the reference. NBD.

You young 'uns… Sheesh! :stuck_out_tongue:

So she does one hand at your place and the other hand at hers.

Don’t think I’ve ever even heard of Tommy, so I still don’t know what the earworm was. :frowning:

I thought I felt a disturbance in the force

Of course, '21 didn’t turn out that well…

British Army Captain Walker goes missing during an expedition and is believed dead (“Overture”). His wife, Mrs. Walker, gives birth to their son, Tommy (“It’s a Boy”). Years later, Captain Walker returns home and discovers that his wife has found a new lover. The lover kills the Captain in an altercation. Tommy’s mother brainwashes him into believing he didn’t see or hear anything, shutting down his senses and making him deaf, dumb and blind to the outside world (“1921”).

Thank you. Not something I would have watched or listened to in those days.

I posted the same sentiment as the OP in Facebook a month ago, and nobody got the reference!

I consoled myself with this great soft-jazz version of another Tommy song (appropriate for the holidays), by Hamilton’s Leslie Odom, Jr.

I’ve got a feeling twenty-one
Is going to be a good year
Especially if you and me
See it in together

So you think twenty-one
Is going to be a good year
It could be good for me and her
But you and her, no never

Here’s why it’s an earworm.

< tacklehug > Tugig!!! What’s the good word??

Long time no see! (virus-free virtual hugs) How ARE you?

Hi there - busy. As you can imagine 2020 in DC hasn’t been easy. Right now I’m just trying to get through the inauguration.

I’m hoping some extended normalcy might allow me to re-engage with everyone. Here’s hoping.

Glad to see both of you!
