The 'I've got a feeling 21 is going to be a good year' MMP

:scream:

With black eyed peas mentioned in the OP, I thought the earworm was I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas.

This is very weird for me, that there’s the new MMP before the afternoon. I’m rather adverse to starting one, as most people are on the American continent.

Add me to the list of those without that earworm. My most common feeling earworm is Boston’s “More than a Feeling”. Guess what I’ll be listening to later?

Considering how much money we spent on a fancy speaker system, it seems I do most of my music listening using a single bluetooth speaker or my computer. Seems wrong, somehow.

Dad’s still in the hospital and it seems things are looking up, again. He got moved to a different floor with a different nursing team. They cheered him when he farted (which is actually good, when you’re recovering from a bowel obstruction). Also a kind of music.

Already did the physical therapy and now to work on papers some more. Probably should go to the store, but that can wait until after lunch. Hopefully it won’t be so crazy, since all the stores have been closed since 4pm on Thursday.

Have a good Monday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort.

Reminded me of Fairytale of New York
“Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I’ve got a feeling
This year’s for me and you”

Tugig!
: tacklehug :

well we got it here! And welcome!

In their general direction?
But good to hear he’s improving.

Welcome! And don’t be afraid of becoming a Mumper. Mainly because Lenny the squidgoat can smell fear.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: this is why I looooove the 'Dope.

Such a sensible solution!

You are sweet to do this, but one quibble - I think “XL Tall” is a more popular size than you think. Anyway, good luck with de-cluttering. (We have a thread for that!)

I’m up having a toaster strudel snack but will be re-joining the cats in bed shortly. The ratties all got a biiiig meal of birdseed mix last night, and I can hear them still sorting through the good stuff, and more “Week! Weeeek!” pups squealing.

There are more litters than I thought!

I’ve been slacking on the endless setup-move-dump-clean cycle of keeping them on fresh bedding (pro tip: have at least one more tub than groups needing an enclosure) and I really need to get my butt in gear on that, especially if they’re having Teh Bebbies.

Which surprises me, they normally dial their breeding way back in winter.
Quarantine boredom strikes us all, eh?

And that means nothing to me. I’ve heard of the Black Eyed Peas, but I wouldn’t know them or their music if they were singing on my front porch. Then I’d just find a cane so I could shake it and tell them to get off my lawn!!!

I stayed up later than usual, so I slept right thru 3AM - maybe that’s the trick? Daughter et al will be here around 11. By then, I’ll need to get my walk done, empty and refill the dishwasher, and (finally) put away the tree. And once they get here, we have some heavy moving to do - things that FCD and I used to be able to handle once upon a time, but age and (in his case) multiple spinal surgeries have put a stop to that.

We’ll finish our labors with delivery from the local Chinese place. While I don’t usually like hot stuff, their garlic sauce is really good! I already know what I’m going to order.

One last item on the to-do will be to contact the credit union about our credit cards. We know a new account number has been assigned, and we got the envelopes with the PINs, but no cards yet. Granted, Christmas mail volume is probably part of the issue, but it’s been 16 days, and they said 7-10 work days which now brings us outside that limit. And in a couple of days, automatic charges for various bills will begin. I was hoping to avoid changing to my debit account, then later changing back to credit. Always something…

And so it begins. Happy Moanday, all!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until just after seven! :open_mouth: 'Tis 32 Amurrkin out and cloudy(ish) with a predicted high of 67 and cloudy(ish) for the day. The big item on the agenda is to spiff da cave. We shall sup upon leftovers from yestiddy. I need to check on a couple of 'scripts due to be refilled, but am in no big hurry as I have unopened bottles of both.

How weird to wake up and see references to Tommy! I was so excited to get it as a Christmas present when I was a wee cub of fifteen! I also have Pinball Wizard stuck in my head.

Gigity!!! ::tacklehug:: so glad to see ya! Come back and play some more.

Now I need more caffeine and runbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Good morning, y’all. It’s unseasonably (and weirdly) warm here. It didn’t go below the 60s last night. We’ve been having insanely beautiful weather–blue skies, tons of sun, low humidity–and it pains me to think of everyone who’s having to crawl out of their warm beds and deal with cold and snow.

Got to bed way after midnight–very unusual for me. But my cat Tikva pulls this particular stunt from time to time. She goes out in my tiny (fenced) backyard and will not come in. If I go out after her, she’ll jump over the fence into the neighbor’s yard. Sometimes she’ll come in the house at some point, and if I even take a step toward the back door to close it, she’ll bolt out. This will go on like some kind of battle of wills for a couple of hours–last night it went on until midnight. But I won’t go to bed unless both cats are inside.

This is the entirety of the minuscule back yard. Right now we’re experiencing leafpocalypse. A huge improvement over the 16 unfenced acres I had when I lived in the country.

Waiting for it to get light enough for me to go and stock the neighborhood pantry. Dear God, 2021 has got to be better than 2020! I’ve been extremely fortunate not to be affected externally by all the mayhem and tragedy going on–internally is another matter. TTYL.

I’m showered and dressed. The dishwasher has been emptied and refilled. The tree is down and it and the ornaments are bagged. Guess it’s time to walk. Need to find something that streams for an hour to keep me entertained. Last 2 times, I found stand-up comics. I think I’m in the mood for a documentary today.

Whatever helps pass the time.

Afternoon all. Hi Tugig, been a while!

The forecast here for the day was quite pleasant- a bit chilly, but mostly dry. It lied. It’s hammering it down and it barely stopped all morning. Oh well, I think I’ll pass on the planned walkies today. I don’t mind too much being rained on while I’m out, if I’m already all warmed up from walking, but I don’t like starting in the rain.

I’m heading up to Bristol tomorrow, to go stash beekeeping stuff in a friend’s garage. I’m not 100% sure what the rules are supposed to be about doing stuff like this- they’ve gone back up a Covid tier since I arranged the trip, as have we. I won’t be going in more than one house, and as I live by myself I think I’m technically allowed to visit one other house (as a ‘support bubble’), but is it OK if that house is over 2 hours drive away? Dunno. Regardless, I don’t have many options, so I’m doing it anyway. I can’t help thinking it’s probably safer all round to go into my sensible friend’s house than use the facilities in the motorway services, which is allowed. Or have a mask-less multi-hour work meeting with 30 other people…

Anyway, I’d better get back to procrastinating about getting stuff ready to move. Happy Monday!

Shaking my head. Listen to the songs on YouTube. Buy it on iTunes. Get the CD from the library. Tommy is one of the best albums. Ever. I can’t believe you never heard of it. How young are you???
And get off my lawn.

Happy Moanday, mumpers!

nut you’re lucky just having rain, we had snow up here in Middle England - enough to cause bother on the roads although I have no plans to go anywhere today. The whole tier thing is confusing, I tend to think if you’re on your own and haven’t been mixing and mingling, it’s fine to travel as long as you’re not going anywhere in tier 4. But it will probably all change again later this week.

Tugig! Good to see you back again, hope you can stay a while this time!

And welcome to an NZ mumper  Been to NZ a couple of times and really loved it, got some farcebook friends down there too. We plan to return at some point but not until it’s safe to do so and the Brits have stopped infecting the rest of the world :frowning:

No plans for the day, we were up very late last night having a zoom chat with friends, went to bed at stupid o’clock this morning, and since the world outside is covered in gasp snow gasp, it’s not a day for venturing out. Book and sofa for me, leftover past for late lunch and that is the extent of today’s activities. However, you’ll be pleased to hear that I’ve had a bath this morning already, so I’m spotless and sparkling!

OK, other than the Wiki link above, everything else I’ve seen says Tommy’s father kills the lover, not vice-versa. Does someone have the actual album and does it have notes that clarifies this?

Morning all. Ate dinner too fast last evening and had a gassy belly that felt like it was the size of Gibraltar, so that took some settling down, then made the mistake of scrolling backward on my Facebook page…by the time I got back to 2017, it was 1:15am, so even sleeping in to 8am has me short of my allotted sleepage. Will shortly make myself presentable and get the Moanday sammich from Jersey Mike’s and a couple of shopping items from Publix (Kleenex and Saltines).

FCM, I usually have my credit card and gas bills by the 20th/21st of the month and haven’t seen either yet, if they don’t show up today I’ll look at alternatives. Now that the Xmas rush is over, maybe things will start coming normally again.

Tugig, it’s good to see you about the MMP. Hope life gets a little less hectic and you can spend more time with us.

Never seen the entire musical Tommy even given my advance years, so I didn’t get it either, nettie. Out of touch are we, I guess…

Nut, trust that you’ll take all the necessary precautions for the Bristol trip, hopefully there won’t be a problem.

Thel, that’s one reason I won’t own a cat…something more stubborn for me is something up with which I will not put.

shoe, sounds like a plan.

Kiwi (temporary MMP name until somebody gets a better one up), welcome and yes, once we have pulled you in, you can never leave (muw-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha).

OK, I’ve got 85 hours left in this miserable year, don’t have any calendars to burn but I’ll think of something.

All y’all take care.

Credit card was sent to us on the 16th. If it doesn’t show up in today’s mail, we’ll have to cancel it and get another. Which means the first-of-the-month bills that get paid on VISA will have to be done on debit. Dammit.

I have a love-hate relationship with my kids’ breaks. On the one hand, I don’t have to get up at 6. On the other hand, they’re so very there and not at all occupied with anything other than video games and talking. Good thing they’re still cute.

Christmas Day was surprisingly nice. It didn’t actually feel like Christmas without my sister there, but the kids had a good time, and my mom was here with us. We had beef tenderloin on the grill, my grandmother’s stuffing and green beans almondine with pecan pie and creme brulee afterward, so that helped.

Anyway, I’ve gotta work all week this week, and I just got slapped in the face with a final rule that’s nearly 1,000 pages, so I guess I know what I’ll be doing in my spare time - trying to understand the weird, ambiguous and too wordy language (heh) of the gov’ment.

And Johnny, I was planning to claim responsibility for 2020. See, I made the mistake of writing down the words, “This is going to be a way better year than last year.” So I was convinced that was pretty much all me.

I’m pretty sure it’s my fault for forgetting to make the traditional New Year’s meal.

But on average, I’m doing OK. Better than last year, but not as good as next year.

I close tonight, so I indulged by staying up a bit when I woke mid-sleep, and then deeply sleeping in. Monkey is cavorting about with a catnip mousie and I need to get more litter again but if I shake my tail I have time before irk to make a quick stop.

Might could get something hot to eat from some drive-thru while I’m at it.

Okay, off to the rain locker then!

On the album, father kills lover. In the movie, lover kills father. In either case mother is complicit and Tommy is traumatized. The movie is also time-shifted forward 30 years.

Morning, all. Raining like crazy here this morning. We need it badly. I just hope it stays light enough that the hillsides don’t slide after the fall fires. Fielded a call from my principal this morning over my grades. Seems one of my classes didn’t get submitted. Luckily it was the small one and I knew what everybody got, so he just entered everything from his computer so I didn’t have to. Have I mentioned how much I like working for him? The fact that he is a former student has nothing to do with it.

Looks like a stormy week across the USA, so stay safe and warm. That goes for all our folks in furrin climes as well.

I spent much of February and early March telling people that ‘I wish there was some way I could just get all of April off work so I can focus on finishing my degree’. Sorry about that.
