The 'I've got a feeling 21 is going to be a good year' MMP

And… She barely scrapes by on disability. Her ‘husband’ was turned down for disability once, so he won’t apply again. (Idiot!) And ‘R’ paid rent to live in the shed, so there goes some money. :frowning:

{{{wordy}}}

bumba, that sounds like a breakfast I’d like.

I’m sorry for your sister’s troubles Johnny.

I only got about half the bedroom closet done before zooming with some family today, so I’ll work on it some more tomorrow. We did get a dog park trip in after that and the grocery shopping. Since I’m tired of my own cooking, I swung through the good Chinese for takeout (yat gaw mein and an aig roll for those who are keeping track) and now am fixing to kick back in the studio.

I’m not trying to pick a fight here, but I’m just wondering why you keep referring to your sister’s quote husband. It seems sort of dismissive. Or is that your intention? Seems like “partner” would be as accurate and more polite, perhaps?

I’d seriously build an ark if I a) had enough lumber b) had enough space in my apartment and c) wouldn’t end trying to float on something that looked like a mouthful of crooked teeth. It continues to poor outside. It’s supposed to slow down tomorrow morning before ramping up again in the afternoon. We’re under a flood watch until Monday night.

I’ll look for LO’L when I dog-paddle to the store tomorrow.

Though they’ve been together for more than two decades and have offspring, they’re not married. Being incurably data-orientated, I can’t call him her husband. Thank you for for suggesting ‘partner’. I’ll use that from now on.

How does she refer to him? As her_____________?

She refers to him as her husband. But since California isn’t a common law state, it isn’t accurate. I have an obsession with accuracy. Probably a mental illness.

Howdy all. New year survived. Even made my lucky food yesterday but today has been a do nothing day. I did do a dishwasher load and another awaits, I did one load of laundry but not a thing else. I’m depressed. I’m sad and lonely. I do wish all of you a Happy New Year. I do hope this year is better for us all.

Sloth day.

{{{{Butters}}}}

Sorry about the family, Flyboy. :frowning:

Since you fly planes and ride motorcycles, a good thing.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 47 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (mostly moony?) with a predicted high of 58 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. This is more like Winter weather in these parts. The big plan of the day is deheathenization, I have ush duty, followed by N.O.L. at Sonny’s BBQ. Nappage and the makin’/eatin’ of pancakes 'n snausages for sup shall comprise the rest of the day.

flyboy sorry about all your sis’s woes.

{{{Butters}}} it’s OK to feel that way. You’ve been through a lot this last couple of months. We’re here for ya!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

{{{Butters}}} - What swampy said. Come to us often - we’re good for ya - really!

{{{nellie}}} - yay for good sleep! It really can be good for what ails ya!

My sleep has become odd - I dream it’s time to get up, then I open my eyes for reals to discover the clock says otherwise. It’s a bit disorienting, plus annoying, because I lie there thinking about it, and I can’t fall back to sleep. Stoopit brain.

It started raining last night, and has continued. Plus it’s supposed to stay in the 40s today, which will make for some unpleasant erranding. I need to run to Aldi, and it’s right across from my daughter’s neighborhood, so I’ll be dropping off some stuff to her. I want to get some ground beef and build a couple of meatloaves for the freezer, and whatever other goodies I might find.

I think I’ll start taking Roxy’s stuff downstairs to her new play area. And I’ll get FCD to help me hang the chalk board/door on the wall for her. (when they were living here, Daughter painted a door with chalkboard paint. There’s no longer a wall for that door to pass thru, so we’re going to hang the door across a section of another wall for artsy purposes. ) And the mini-trampoline is definitely going down there. I’ll leave a few toys in her room, but most will go to the basement.

That’s pretty much all I intend to do today. We’ll see how it all plays out.

Happy Sunday!

Afternoon, mumpers! It is grey and icy outside, weather app says “It’s a dark and dreadful day. I fucking love it!” and promises me 3C/37F today as both low and high so I am having another stay at home day. I’m back at work tomorrow, still doing that from home too, so I’ll have to get the Uni laptop out again later and set the office back up.

{{{Butters}}} this is the perfect place to be when you’re sad and feeling low, I’ll be taking advantage of the love and sympathy tomorrow as it’s the first anniversary of mum’s death. I am working, but not sure I really want to, but if I don’t work then I’ll just wallow and that can’t be good for me.

Flyboy sorry to hear about the family woes, I hope they can work something out.

nellie after all that sleep, you’ll be feeling fit enough to get that ark built! I don’t need one, but ice skates might be useful round here.

{{{wordy}}} just because.

So, last day of “holiday” for me, and I have very few plans. We went into town yesterday and found that the bank has now stopped Saturday opening so I’ll have to factor in a weekday visit in order to do the things I need to do there. I’ve got over 70 hours banked so I can easily take a bit of time to do that job - their opening hours are now 10am-2pm so I’ll have to work around that.

Town was not fun, there weren’t many people around but those who were out and about seem to have completely forgotten masks, one-way systems and just about everything else. Fortunately we had only got a couple of things to do, the bank was shut, I got a new supply of vitamins, and we got some mahoosive steaks from the butcher in the market. Stopped at the new Chinese place for food, scooted home and scoffed it.

Today my only plan is to get the drill out and make some holes in the kitchen wall so I can put my new spice rack up. There’s really only one place it can go without being in the way, so I just need to check for pipes and electrics, then I can get that up on the wall. It’s not my day to cook dinner so that will be provided for me, thus an afternoon of slothage might well be in order.

Chased a few wolves away (e.g. paid some bills) this morning, and - since it is full to the absolute brim, and I don’t wanna deal with it in the dark after work - I have already dragged the big trash bin to the curb for tomorrow’s pick-up.

In true local fashion, I didn’t bother with a coat or anything - just cinched my bathrobe securely, slid on boots, and stomped out into the snow. It’s not that cold, for heaven’s sake.

If I can manage to fix a peanut butter sammich to take to irk and scramble myself a couple of eggs for breakfast before leaving in half an hour (plus get a shower) it shall be considered a good day indeed.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Last day off. But I get to go in early tonight, since they need help.

Morning all. Stayed in until 8am and now need to be somewhat active in doing some housework as the last 2 days have been overly slothful. Plan to dine out at Outback for my weekly good meal, but outside of that no particular reason to go out. Supposed to get to 50F today with no rain forecast, so there is that.

{{{Butters}}}, everybody else said it better; we’re here.

FCM, way your describing Royx’s new play area, the kid won’t want to come upstairs to go to bed! Sounds like pictures are in order once you finish.

OK, need to warm up the house and do things. All y’all take care.

{{{butters}}} You’ve been through a lot over the past year. Pop in any time you feel the need for company / shoulder / {{{}}}.

Mooooooom, the chalkboard will provide a lot of hours of being creative. When I was a kid, my dad bought a classroom blackboard at a school auction and hung it on our dining room wall. It stayed there ~10 years and was a wonderful source of entertainment for a houseful of kids. For the cheap price of keeping us in chalk and the board (IIRC, he paid somewhere around $2 for it), it kept us, our friends and any kid that Mom babysat busy for hours.

I’ve been looking into going back to the old days and making the switch from liquid laundry soap to powdered (I already did for the oxyclean). Did you know that they charge more for a box of dry laundry soap that does 102 loads than a jug that does the same? That’s about ridiculous! Now, I’m going to Pinterest making my own.

Up, caffeinating, fixing to do KP and get back to cleaning out closets. I’m saving the Chewy box as a donation receptacle.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Back from erranding - both Wally World and Aldi. I’ve packaged some chickie tits for the freezer, and shortly, I will make a cuke-onion salad, then build the meatloaves.

MetalMouse - once I assemble RoxyLand, I’ll post some pics. It’s too late for “before” photos - oh well, just imagine nothing but walls and a dirty floor.

Red - She has some sidewalk chalk that she loves to use - I’ll take that downstairs for her, plus I have a box of crayola chalk that was left here. She loves to draw - the kid has an artistic soul, I guess!

OK, time to peel the cukes and make a salad.

If you add 'You know what I mean? ’ to that, you can make it sound dirty.

And ‘make a salad’, know what I mean?

Whyever would I want to make something as innocent as preparing a side dish sound dirty? I am shocked… SHOCKED I say!!!
