The 'I've got a feeling 21 is going to be a good year' MMP

You are my hero…

Beans and collards procured.

Dinner tonight: Thai beef salad and wine.

shoe, I share your opinion about those ultra pointy nails. They’re butt ugly.

butters, those XLT shirts will fly off the shelves wherever they go.

Welcome back 2gig! Long time no see. Like you, I hope that DC is a much quieter place in 2021.

thelma, when I have a project going on around the house or am working in the studio, I like stand up comedy on Pandora or YT as my background. Another good option for something that doesn’t take a bunch of visual attention are the true crime type shows. Most of the visual stuff isn’t essential.

Irked over, which will go on for the next couple of days. I am so ready for a regular 8 hours M-T and knocking off around noon on Fridays again. I get my trainee on the fourth and within a couple of months, she should be fairly up to speed.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Well, the whirlwind is in bed, but not asleep. I’m in the guest bedroom across the hall and can hear her talking to her stuffed animals.

She insisted on helping me put on my pajamas and helping me brush my teeth since I was going to do the same with her. I had to lie down on the bed while she checked where the tags were in the pj bottoms so she could slide them on correctly. I wriggled and squirmed some to add realism.

I was scheduled for WFH childcare relief for tomorrow but since we have a winter snow and ice windstorm supposedly coming in overnight her dad called and invited me to spend the night ahead of the travel uncertainty. I’m all of 5 city miles away but any chance for extra Harriet time I am going to jump at.

So, it’s 7:30 pm, I’m in my pajamas and in bed. Usually I haven’t even eaten supper yet if I am at home. I brought an extra dead tree library book along to pass the time before I can fall asleep. She wakes up bright and early, like a regular mumper-to-be, I need to be ready. She has plans for snowperson building if enough falls overnight. I’m sort of hoping it doesn’t.

How about Counting Crows:

A long December and there’s reason to believe
Maybe this year will be better than the last

That’s been my earworm for the past few days.

Evening all. Nappage occupied a fair amount of my afternoon along with tracing my Facebook history all the way to the start (in 2015). Lots of interesting stuff I forgot about and enjoyed revisiting (or erasing). Dinner was from Freddy’s Steakburgers and is now happily assimilating.

BBBoo, nitey-night. Enjoy the book.

Red’ hope the trainee works out well. Have you met him/her yet?

FCM, didn’t get any mail today either. Printed out copies of the billing from the website and will send them tomorrow (or for the gas bill, pay in person). And Roxy on the treadmill is sweet (as long as she doesn’t figure it out while you’re looking away…kids iz kids).

OK, on to internettin’ and maybe some tackleball watchin’. All y’all take care.

talky, are those the slippers Thel recommended a couple weeks ago? Because I have them now and love them.

With joy. They luuurves them some black oil sunflower seeds (referred to as BOSS in some circles.)

Wanna know something really funny? (I may have shared this here before, but I have a tendency to repeat myself.)
I got the rats a bag of chicken feed pellets, since they fall nicely through the mesh on their lids & is relatively close to rodent lab blocks nutritionally. Anyway, Monkey loves the stuff. I mean, sits on the lid of an enclosure chowing down on every stray pellets.

Which means my cat is eating the rat’s food that was originally meant for chickens.

Late night at irk. Dinner shall be some frozen empanada thingies, which are juuuuuust about done. Damn, I forgot to thaw a mini tub of guacamole!
Why didn’t anyone remind me?

Oh well, there’s sour cream.

Up caffeinated, and sheveled.off to sort. Yesterday, we had random new people on the sort table, a random new supervisor, and apparently most of the more senior employees are taking the week off. So I wonder what fresh hell today will bring.

Put me in the Beatles column. I saw Yellow Submarine at the library when I was in elementary school, and we have all the collections. Still can’t name a song from Who and never knew anything about Tommy.

When I was in high school I had to do a school project on 1970s music, but only the type of music as sung by Peter, Paul and Mary and Cat Stevens, for example. My parents listened to Neil Diamond, John Denver, Barbara Streisand, Cleo Lane, plus the Beatles and Elvis. So I had to talk to friends of my parents to get their input and borrow their LPs.

Today is going to the store. My mother won’t have to go to the store for a while - all her friends are making sure she has food. So the freezer’s getting fed. It’s all very confusing as I chat with my mother at the end of my day, which is the beginning of her day, and then again at the beginning of my day, which is the end of her previous day. No wonder I’m confused about what day it is.

And then I need to check in at work, just to see if there’s anything blocked because our colleagues in the non-Western world are still working. Supposedly Christmas is celebrated by approximately ⅓ of the world.

Maybe we get some blue sky. Would be better to take a walk when it’s not drizzling. Actually, yesterday was getting towards downpour. Which is not optimal for walking, and meant that once we got home, there was little interest in going out again.

I think it’s possible to spray water repellent on my coat. Might take a look at that. It’s not so water resistant as it used to be.

Anyway, got to get going to the store. Happy (checks calendar) Tuesday!

I got a bag of freeze-dried mealworms from right next to where they sell the bags of chicken pellets at the local Wal-Mart.

Have been told ASF go nuts for them - and if there really are that many "Week! Weeeek!" babies tootlin’ around in there, then there’s a buncha nursing moms who will appreciate the extra protein.

Will report back with details on whether or not the soft-furs are enjoying the new treat … but I expect they will, considering they enjoy eating All The Things.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 68 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. Also, I shall go pick up ‘scripts from the pharmacy this mornin’. Since I shall be out and about, I shall also make a trip to :open_mouth:Wally Jr. :open_mouth: for some needed grocery supplies. We shall sup upon steak, sallit, company smashed N.O.T., bacon wrapped spare guts, and bizkits for sup. YUM! Hence I must needs to buy spare guts. That should be enough to keep us outta trouble for the day.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, woe upon woe, and bother of bothers, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Oh the compounded difficulties of life!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

That’s hilarious! RoxStar hasn’t tried to help me dress, but she does occasionally like to mess with my hair. Not that there’s a lot to mess with. She will sometimes take my shoes off, only because she wants to wear them. Kids is weird…

Never heard it before, so not an earworm for me. Good sentiment, tho - I’d say '21 can’t possibly be worse, but that would be tempting the Fates, wouldn’t it?

shoe - your menagerie is endlessly entertaining to me!

I have a dentist appt tomorrow, and I just checked my calendar - why the @#^$%#& would I schedule it for 6 in the PM??? Maybe because I thought I’d have the kid during the day? That was dumb.

Not sure what today will hold, apart from contacting the credit union for a new pair of cards. Dammit. And I think I’m going to cancel the siriusXM for my car - even at $10/month, it’s just not worth it since I drive so little these days. So I’ll lie  and tell them I sold the car and be done with it before the next payment comes due.

Don’t rat me out!

Happy Tuesday!

Morning all. Paying bills and doing a couple of shopping stops will get me out of the house this Ay-em, but nothing much else on the agenda…maybe some house cleaning.

On the good side, it’s supposed to be 58F and N.O.S. today, so there is that to look forward too as the year slowly grinds to an end.

FCM, I think I’ll keep my Sirius, but like you and some others, I’ll try to negotiate a better deal next time.

shoe, since you have us intrigued, please let us know how the rats and bats like the mealworms.

OK, onward into the day.

Well, since enough of you were interested (really? I’m verklempt) I got excited, too, and couldn’t wait any longer.

Felt like Oprah. “You get a scoop! Aaand you get a scoop! Every. Body. Gets. A. Scoop. Of WORMS!”

I’ve never seen them all just fall into eating like that. No scuffles, no chasing each other around to fight over choice bits. Just focused, concentrated, intense eating.

Guess they like 'em!

In case any of you are verklempt too:

Yes! And I can’t make myself remove them for too long, or I get verklempt (I loooooove Coffee Talk).

I had the weirdest dreams last night. I dreamed I was at customs trying to get into Sweden, but the American embassy, when submitting for a visa, had accidentally submitted a bag of Lucky Charms cereal instead of my finger prints and copy of my passport, making it impossible for me to de-plane. Eventually Sweden took pity on me and I was allowed to tour the country. I have no idea what the heck the meaning of that was, but it cracked me up, both during the dream and when I woke up. Edited to add that I woke overlyhubs up with creepy laughter while I was asleep, making him think I was about to murder him. Oops.

Anyway, drinking coffee. Working. Plowing through this dratted final rule and wishing I could eat pie for breakfast (I’ll probably have avocado toast instead - yes, I am that kind of person). I waddled last night on the treadmill. Listened to a fun audiobook and laughed so hard and unexpectedly toward the end I flew off the back.

Back from erranding. The Food Lion in Charlotte Hall had the cranberry-pineapple drink that FCD likes, so I grabbed 3 bottles. And I stopped at the dollar store for a wall clock to go in the basement. Hard to go wrong for $4! Once I go downstairs, I need to hang it up.

I think today’s plan is to get Roxy’s section of the basement set up for her. I need to move one sheet of OSB and a pile of 2X4s, then lay out the rug that SIL took down yesterday, hoping it’ll lie flat eventually. I should bring in more firewood, too - I have barely a day’s worth inside right now.

Meanwhile, I just put a rack of ribs in the oven on low temp - they should be falling off the bones by suppertime. I’ll bake a couple of russets and cook up some sort of vegetable matter for the side. Glad that’s decided.

OK, back to work. Dammit.

Showered, and on my third cuppa joe. I have a 9 o’clock appointment to get the Prius’s tail light assembly replaced, and it’s a half and hour to the shop. I’ll head out in about an hour.

Just checked - my current deal expires in Feb, so I’ll just kill it then. I can swing $20 for now.

OK, to work for reals…

My bad. (Guess where my username originates?)

This absolutely cracked me up.

Okay @overlyverbose you’re gonna HAFTA share the title. Please? I never buy audiobooks but I’d pay actual money to be that entertained, even for a moment.

I’ve decided I need help & have reached out to a couple of house cleaning services. (Been too depressed to for ex. keep up with cleaning the bathroom, so now cleaning ME in said bathroom is depressing, and … yeah. Bad cycle ensues.)

So I need to get rid of vast amounts of “just in case … for the rats” crap (mostly small boxes, TP tubes, that sort of nonsense) today in preparation. Have bought myself a coffee in preparation for THAT.
