The 'I've got a feeling 21 is going to be a good year' MMP

Ah, that’s better.

Dicey, mea culpa, I thought I had everybody figured out, plumbing-wise at least, but guess I still have a thing or two to learn. And happy the parents could talk/see you on Zoom…still haven’t gotten that far into the 21st Century.

Moooomm, I have my 68th Birthday this coming April, so not far ahead and close to hippy. Still of the opinion that I am going to live forever or die in the attempt… Enjoy dining out with the family and hope you feel better. May have been something you ate that just had to get out. Glad you’re feeling better.

Boo fae, glad you are both entertained and supporting a local band that probably needs it badly in these times. Take care.

OK, need to break fast and think about going out to Target for a couple of things. All y’all have a good Hump Day.

I’m so glad your dad is feeling a little better, Die. I hope he keeps improving and improving.

Today is grey and cold. And wet - really wet. A perfect day for browsing a zillion-page rule and contemplating one’s life choices.

I’m trying to figure out what veg heavy food I can make tonight. I’m sick of cooking so it might be random bits of vegetables that I find and throw in a slow cooker with tomatoey juice. Or leftover Christmas stuffing. Crap. The stuffing is in the slow cooker. I don’t wanna clean it. Grrrr.

Anyway, for what it’s worth I’m 45. I keep forgetting. The difference between 45 and 20 (at least for me) is being a bit more tired, so I have to stick to a schedule, having to work harder at not feeling like garbage and also I thought I’d feel more, ah, clue-ful by this point. I don’t remember reading in the manual that I’d still be faking it now. They must’ve left that part out.

We will have a new rover on Mars in February. That will cheer me up.

I graduated in ‘68, making me the geeziest geezer Mumper. Feel safe that I’m also the least pretty geezette. I don’t frighten the chickens off laying but ‘serviceable’ is as favorable as I got. Sturdy, not dainty.

Still riding out our storm at Harriet’s. Will probably head home after we build a snow person after lunch. By then the city should have finished doing a first plow of residential streets. It’s only 5 miles. Scraping the car will be the hardest part. I miss my kitties-they’ll be peeved and feeling ignored.

No mystery here. 71 in 12 days.

We got several inches of snow last night, all at once. Panicked a moment when I couldn’t see my car out the window. Thought it was stolen!

Ah, no, it was that vaguely car-shaped white mound.

Cleared it off, decided to go for a midnight walk, returned to … a white car-shaped mound. You’d have no idea it was briefly cleaned off.

This is me, with my kitchen.

I cleaned up the worst of it, then thought, “Why am I cleaning? I should be making a mess!” so I made a pot of noodles. And left it. (!) Then scrubbed out the dried leftover noodles. Decided I was being ridiculous … then saw your post!

BBBoo - fellow January babby!!!

We got a lot done in the basement - the shelf fit nicely in the closet under the steps. We have a trash can and a big box full of stuff to be discarded, and the cart is loaded with things to go to the shop. Slowly but surely, it’s becoming habitable space.

Dentist called - they had a cancellation at 5 so I can go in earlier - yay! All my gastrointestinal distress from last night seems to have resolved itself. So I’m having some Italian wedding soup for lunch. Not sure what I’ll do this afternoon - maybe clean up some more down there? Or do a run to the convenience center? Or veg? Decisions, decisions…

I’ll just get off all of your lawns then, at 37, shall I?

I’m getting a bit fed up of the rain here now- at least it started later than last year, but the entire county is turning in to a bog. I won’t miss living in the wettest part of the country, that’s for sure. I wanna go out and do stuff, then I look out the window and think ‘Perhaps tomorrow’…It’s that or take up bog snorkling.

Yep. The 10th. You and I should set up a virtual Zoom-like birthday bash. If other Mumpers behave themselves they might be invited. BYOB and cupcake candles.

Well.
I shoveled snow off my driveway, for the 1st time in my life.

I have to say … not impressed with this “snow” nonsense at the moment.

One thing I enjoyed every year whilst at the store – watching the new Puerto Rican employees experiencing their first snowfall. :snowflake: :snowflake:  :snowflake:

Yay for Dicey’s parents!

No need for that. Just don’t eat the daisies, and you’ll be fine.

If you do, don’t forget to post videos!

I have several of you ladies as FB friends, and will refrain from comments on anyone’s pulchritude or lack thereof (not that I have room to talk). Speaking of FB: swampy and hippie, I just sent you friend requests.

Finally got up around noon; have et but not yet caffeinated. Need to go get a blood draw this afternoon (actually, I think it was supposed to be done last week), and might as well drop off a couple library books on the way.

All y’all were so helpful in naming my A/C unit (“Coolio”) who has sadly been relegated to the basement, as I have little need of his services when there’s a few inches of snow on the ground.

Per the “Cold Weather Advice” thread I started, I have obtained a humidifier.
Tiny, but mighty, and it has an LED that beams a rainbow of colors, as it breathes a teensy plume of humidity at me.

What shall I name my humidifier, Mumpers?

Misty?

Puff the Magic Dragon

Nope. I graduated in '65. And I’m sure you look just fine, Boo.
I, on the other hand, have a ‘mean face’, according to my wife. My theory is that since that I’m usually in pain from something, most often my feet, that it shows in my face, which scowl people interpret as ‘mean’. I’m really quite kindly, mostly.
IIRC, Cookie is a few months older than me, even.

There was a patch of blue sky off to the south this morning. It’s about gone now. It has looked, and felt, like it should snow for the last few days, to the point we’ve been saying, “get it over with now wouldja.”

We had a gang (6 or 8) of Red-winged Blackbirds, along with all the Goldfinches and Sparrows, out back just now. I know one of the neighbors feeds 'em too, but we worry about them when we have to go back to the valley. They can empty all 4 feeders in a day. Little gluttons.

“Play Misty for me”.
Dang it! Ninja’d by Mom.

SCAdian, you get to eat before a bloodletting? They always make me fast before.

Well, that’s enough outta me.

My favourite birds.

For ordinary lab work, yes – I have to fast. This is an INR draw, to see if they need to change my coumadin dosage.

Our credit cards came in today’s mail!! It only took 2 weeks. I’m glad I didn’t call yesterday to have them replaced. I’ve already gone thru and updated all our bill-pay accounts, so we’re good. Except for the electric company - for some reason it wouldn’t take my card number. I’ll try again tomorrow, and if it still doesn’t work, I’ll call them.

Yet another dentist has bought the practice, but this one may stick. She’s a local. The last two weren’t, and I’m guessing the lifestyle in our county didn’t suit them. She’s very pleasant, even if she is just 12 years old - at least that’s how old she looks! So I guess I’m glad I stuck with them.

Afterwards, I drove thru Taco Bell for FCD, then ran into McKay’s for sushi for me. I also had an apple, because the sushi didn’t fill me.

Chillage time, after I scoop the cat box. Always something, right?

magic+Puff certainly would be appropriate given shoe’s line of work.

Took a long nap, and woke up in the darkness. That’s the worst part of late afternoon winter naps. Did I sleep for an hour, or 13? Making smoked paprika chicken with rice and corn for dinner, and doing a load of Underroos. Also, a Manhattan has appeared in my hand. I have a 4 day weekend.

At least you’re not here in N.C. Civilization here collapses, Mad Max style when there are flurries.

I turn 50 in Febuary. I might grow some grass seed in a planter, so I have a lawn to tell people to get off of.

Dude…

This sounds like the definition of a mixed marriage.
