Interpret any way you wish. Anti-white racism is a much bigger problem today than white racism–not just in America but throughout the Western world–and a major aspect of that is the cowardice of white liberals and radicals who can’t deal honestly with racial issues.

Mychal Bell has a history of being a violent criminal and was on parole when he committed yet another violent crime. Crimes committed by other people, and whether or not those people may or may not have been punished fairly, has absolutely no bearing on the fact that this kid is a violent criminal and thus deserves to be facing very serious charges.
Maybe not attempted murder, but he definitely deserves some jail time.
That those “civil rights protesters” (Martin Luther King, Jr. is probably turning in his grave right now…) want this violent criminal free is testament to their own goddamn ignorance.
And any charges against others, black or white, depends entirely on the circumstances. You can’t say “well these white boys got in a previous fight at a party, why weren’t they charged?”. Well, to that I say - if the circumstances warrant criminal charges, then charge them; if not, why should they be charged?
In any case, it doesn’t change the fact that Mychal Bell is a repeated violent criminal and violated parole, and thus deserves to be sent to jail.

Do you have any evidence for this load of bullshit? I am a white person who has traveled all over the world. I have never in my life encountered “anti-white racism.” I have encountered white racism frequently. I think you’re fucking imagining things. There is nothing more pathetic than a white guy trying paint himself as a persecuted victim of racism. There has to be something more worthwhile you can do with your life than decrying the plight of the white race.

“Redneck” has evolved to describe a political and social mentality without any necessary reference to class. It never had any reference to ethnicity. “White” is not an “ethnicity.” People who act offended about the word redneck are just disingenuous douchebags. If you abuse people, like threatening them with lynchings for sitting under a tree, and they lash out back at you, you can’t really cry racism. Revenge, maybe. Hell, even thuggery for the 6-1 aspect of the fight. But racism? The black kids were reacting to racism. The people who are protesting are reacting to racism. I don’t think any black people involved in the protests have threatened anyone with a lynching, have they?
There was a demonstrable inequity in how the white and black students were dealt with in the school. People tend to take matters into their own hands when they feel that the authorities don’t give a shit about how they’re treated. Is it right for them to handle things that way? Nope, and they should be punished for it. But to deny that they were sorely provoked is fucking bullshit and I’m sure you know that. The students who hung nooses in the tree should also be punished.

For all who have posted specifically criticizing the protesters’ presence in Jena, I have (mainly) two questions.
Do you can consider any of what happened to the Black kids in this situation to constitute a miscarriage of justice and, if so, what would you have done to call attention to this miscarriage if it happened to white kids? Or would you just sit back do nothing for fear you’d be called racebaiters for calling attention to the racial aspects of this case?
For you and the other posters who have expresed a racial hatred of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and to save Black people the trouble when the time comes to choose, which spokepeople would you (and Wee Bairn), from your special perspective on these matters, approve of?

Of course racism plays a role here-anyone who thinks that hanging nooses in a tree isn’t racially motivated is in their own state of deep denial. IMO, if the school had responded in a better way to this situation, perhaps the escalation would not have happened.
I refuse to see either side as completely innocent or guilty here. But I do condemn the white teens for their provocative behavior. (and doing so does NOT excuse the blacks from their violent response. It only makes their response understandable).
General remarks: What is truly pathetic is the degree of fear that surrounds racist jerks. To spend your life monitoring another group of people for signs of threat and to always feel so under siege that you look to provoke confrontation (to prove your predictions of threat, of course) argues an ill balanced, even paranoid mind. Believe it or not, black men (or women) are not out there, lurking, just waiting to rape white women or steal to get drug money or <insert criminal or bad behavior here>. (not that anyone here said they were–I am speculating about the mindset of a prejudiced person). In this day and age, this is ignorance bordering on imbecility.
That said, I have experienced racism from a black woman (who happened to be my former boss). It was not pleasant. Realizing that 1. I had no actionable proof and 2. that I was better suited elsewhere and 3. I had no stomach to build a case, I moved on. I’m sure there are plenty of black people who hate whites without reason (but I’d argue that there are more blacks who hate whites for concrete reasons). I doubt highly that there are plently of black people who would gang together to intimidate and harass whites as we often see whites doing. The two are not comparable.

Jeez, every “news” agency we have in this country needs to be kicked in the ass. The first time I heard this story, the way the media made it sound, these kids were getting away with murder, or near murder (not to mention, WHEN are they going to stop with the emphasis on “white kids/black kids”?).
FINALLY, (how many days or weeks later?) the real story is that a group of kids kicked some other kid’s ass because he was a little jerk (or whatever reason imho if he was acting like a racist little pig, I’m not surprised he got his nose bloodied, I’m not necessarily sure that that was a “bad” thing). Apparently (again we finally get this news) the “beaten” kid went to some dance or school function that same night.
IMHO, this and so many other stories like it are due in large part to media sensationalism or outright misinformation.
Did the defendant attack the victim 6 on 1 as reported? Was the victim kicked after he was down?
If so, I have a hard time getting worked up over the fact that the defendant has been charged with attempted murder. Of course, I was just reading Ender’s Game yesterday.

Never. The liberal mantra is to ensure our differences are always on the forefront. On a given story’s face, it seems they’re “protecting” a racial or gender group, or social class, or those with alternative lifestyles. But it’s not really the aim. I mean, it CAN’T be.

Frankly, I’d like to live in a world we’re our differences were on the forefront but not everything is taken negatively, or people are itching to be offended all the time.
