The Jews of the world don't like you either, Sevastopol

So, a particular group receives exclusive messages from The Creator, and they are not being favoured by said creator? Okay, if you say so - I suppose it’s all a matter of interpretation.

Can you remind me when else in history a group willingly took on a ‘burden’ and felt it was a honour, or is this the one-off I feel it might be?

I was under the impression that every religion’s members feel they’ve got the inside track to the Almighty (although no one had red phone access like Oral Roberts).

Personally, I get very confused about which stereotypes I’m supposed to follow. Should I be pushy or standoffish? To miscegenate or not miscegenate (I’m historically inclined to the former)? As Kinky Friedman’s redneck nerd in a bowling shirt once said:

You just want to doodle a Christian girl
and you killed God’s only son

  • “They Ain’t Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore”

There is no “willing” about it. The deal (known as the “Covenant”, though in fact several seperate deals with God are referenced - there is a “Noah covenant” which covers all of humanity, an “Abrahamic Covenant” specific to Jews, a “Mosaic Covenant” given later, etc.) was made by ancestors, it cannot be undone now.

It’s a unilateral contract, in that God dictated the terms.

As for whether its a one-off, I’m not qualified to say. Certainly most Jews feel that it is.

And it does convey certain divine favours (which, one should note, are believed in by Christians as well as Jews), for example: that the Messiah will be born of the Jews, of the line of David. Christians of course believe this has already happened; Jews do not.
