Inspired by the responses, I’ve decided to bestow the nickname “Beta-chan” (Little Sticky) to inspire her (or him) to stick around.
Beta-chan is doing well so far!

Extreme hugs in your direction.
Good ol’ Uncle Sweets checking in, with thoughts and prayers sent over an entire ocean.
Remember two months ago when you said you were leaving?
Hah!
Congrats on your great “Sticky” news!! Welcome to the Dope world to your little grain of rice!
Great nickname!

My niece was called Girlie most of her life because she was named after her father. Later we all called her after her middle name.
Babys are sweeeeeet! Congrats.
Hang in there, little sticky one. We’ll be looking forward to seeing you in the fall. You could share a birthday with my son, if you do like he did and stay some extra days.
Mochigome! Sticky sticky sticky!
Ohhh, congrats. Hello, sweet, sticky rice baby! Please be sure to tell us when your birthday is!
My wife in to see one of her doctors, a great man who is famous for infertility treatment. (Incidentally, when my wife panicked last year that she hadn’t gotten pregnant 4 months after her miscarriage she went back to him and he told her she was fine and needed no treatment. He’s a really classy guy.)
Anyway, they found our Little Sticky with ultrasound and all is well for now. S/he is growing into a tiny ball of rice, just a little over 1 cm now.
The tentative due day is Oct 9th. We’re excited.
You and several hundred (if not several thousand) Dopers.
Perhaps I’m strange (okay, strike the “perhaps”), but my second or third emotion when my daughters were born was a deep compassion for those whose outcomes were not as happy. I don’t pray much, but I am praying that you and your wife will know the untempered joy you deserve this time around.
As am I.
“Every time a child is born, the universe begins anew.” My prayers are that Little Sticky One makes her new universe a better one.
Regards,
Shodan
Hi Beta-chan, we’re looking forward to your arrival. You’re actually supposed to arrive just a little after my first niece or nephew, so you need to arrive and grow in tandem from across the globe with that other little one. Maybe you could be pen-pals, or whatever the equivalent will be for you two.
Whether you guys are or not, I’m very pleased you’ve come and I really do hope you stick around. You’ve got a lot of people rooting for you.
And congratulations to you and your wife, TokyoPlayer. I must admit, though, I’m wondering if this is related to your open letter to Yellow Tail. You might want to write a longer letter later, if so.
Still sending:

My birthday is Oct. 10th. You should move to Canada. Most years, I get a long weekend for my birthday.
Mine too. Go Sticky!
Seconded, and congratulations!
Oh, congratulations! I’m thinking Sticky thoughts for you too! I am amazed at the strength and love you and your wife have, and I know this little one is very lucky to be yours!
Oh, stick stick stick, little rice! I want to meet you!
October 8th is my wedding anniversary; a good day!
Mine’s October 6th.
Keep growing, little one!
And, Otto, that’s not weird. Or I’m weird. I was crying for people whose babies aren’t healthy while wandering the hospital hallways and trying to quiet my son, they day after he was born.
You know, that’s the first time I’ve typed that since he was born. My son.
More sticky good wishes and prayers for Beta-chan, TokyoPlayer and TokyoWife. Lots of hugs headed towards Japan.
