The latest Mister Gropeyhands? Bush 41.

Or maybe this more or less solves the problem going forward. I don’t see much in the way of harsh reactions towards Bush Sr., so I expect people will continue to seek him out, although that will change if his physical or mental condition deteriorates substantially, which is going to happen sometime, given his age, not to mention the Parkinson’s. But now that everyone’s heard about George Cop-A-Feel, women visiting him won’t be standing where he can grope them during photo ops.

Here’s a question that just occurred to me. I wonder if any men can report being groped by Bush in the same manner, when standing in that same position as many must have. If they have, then it’s conceivable that it’s a Parkinsons thing, as his spokesman said and as some have supported here. But if it’s only women, then it’s obviously intentional. I strongly suspect that it’s just women, of course.

Der. How many hours did you spend working that out, Einstein?

Another lover of overused cliché lines, I see. (Yeah yeah, not worth the effort etc. etc.)

Here’s another one, dickhead. Rev up your apologist engine. We’re gonna need to move his “dementia” back 11 years.

As soon as your done sucking that dead dog’s dick, we’ll find out that sweet ol’ George has been an ass-grabber since Yale.

You’re going to be surprised that a WWII vet and child of a Congressman born to privileged did some butt patting in his earlier years?

I think you’ll have a tough time finding fairly successful men that did not engage in this activity in the 50s and 60s. I’m sure plenty of your own beloved male relatives were guilty of this and thought nothing of it. Waitresses butts were fair game into at least the 1970s by many men. Probably later than that. It was not right, but it was the reality of the time. As was wonderfully backwards things like spanking wives, keeping them on an allowance and not allowing them to work. Pappa Bush belongs to that generation. He probably did plenty of patting and pinching before being in elected office and probably even after.

A lot of men acted like entitled douchebags. Newsflash: a lot did not.

What the fuck is the point of this mindless apologia? Is GHWB some sacred cow? I’ve already said it’s not the crime of the century.

Maybe your dear old Dad went around grabbing ass. Is that the issue?

The issue is, a lot of men, around they same time they start being wheeled around wearing goofy socks, will become ass-grabbers when they were not previously ass-grabbers. This is sad and upsetting for people.

I don’t see a lot of evidence to make some other case, but I guess we’ll see.

If his family and staff are rolling their eyes when he grabs butts, then they need to do better and protect him from himself and let women know that he’s doing this so they can be informed. I’m not clear on whether he’s been doing this his whole life or just since his Parkinson’s diagnosis, but his staff should be doing better. It’s annoying that people are raging on the first lady making the accusation. If she felt violated, then she is entitled to feel that way, and since more women have come forward and Bush or his people made a statement apologizing for his actions, then I don’t understand why the lady is being dumped on. Bush shouldn’t be a sacred cow, even if he is old and in failing health. It may not rise to the level of Weinstein or Toback’s actions, but it is unwanted touching and people need to learn that that’s not ok, even if it’s too easily accepted as normal

I have read it. That’s exactly the type of thing I am talking about. The argument was about your behavior here. Your behavior in the other thread was in reference to this one. You say idiotic things because you don’t get what is being said, because you focus way to much on small parts.

But okay, you win. My first line was at least arguably wrong. Can you actually respond to the entire post? Or is calling people stupid all you have?

 Wtf dude, “elder abuse”? Where are you getting that? I make the perfectly reasonable point that an old man who apparently has become incapable of controlling his behavior around women should no longer be making public appearances where women have to put up with his groping them, and you react as though I were actually calling for elders to be abused, or even euthanized??

Did you just totally misread what I posted, or what? When I wrote that “nobody is suggesting that President Georgie-Porgie should be left to rot in solitary confinement, or that he should be deprived of sympathetic carers who will know how to handle his inappropriate behavior”, did you somehow manage to skip the “nobody” part?

It’s hard to imagine that somebody on these boards would be so sloppy in their reading comprehension. But it’s even harder to imagine that somebody would be so resentful and touchy about infringement of male privilege that they would genuinely regard the thwarting of a mentally impaired old man’s women-groping impulses as literally a form of elder abuse.

^^^ This.

The University Hospital in Pamplona is owned by Opus Dei who, for those not familiar with them, are sort of Catholic Pentecostals when it comes to women’s expected roles and behaviors. Female students and workers used to be required to wear skirts, not trousers. This ended in the 1990s after several cases of “elderly patient fell of the bed when trying to look up the cleaner’s skirt”: uniforms now include trousers for all genders.

I myself see no issue with adjusting his schedule and activities and the protocols around him so as to minimize the opportunity for his acting up. The family and minders should actually do so out of excess of caring, to prevent the old man putting others and himself in distress.

No, Mrs. Etxebarri, our client will NOT stipulate that hiring a “hot little fox in a skirt” placed your father-in-law at risk!

Shit, a lot of those “hot little foxes” were in their 40s and 50s and the skirts had to reach under the knee when standing… but I guess, compared with the nuns who’d previously cleaned the place, they looked like the epitome of sexy!

In your particular case, that’s about all that’s called for.

Though you need to give some credit, I didn’t just call you stupid, I explained in some detail exactly what your stupidity was. Which you seem to have acknowledged at some level, despite trying to save face by saying “arguably”.

Having had several years experience with my 89 YO father as he experienced dementia (and was in a nursing home because my mother could not handle him at home), I’m more likely than many to cut him (and Bush) some slack. His impulse control was very poor and he would often make up an explanation of why he did or said something that was inappropriate or offensive. To him, excusing his brushing against the breast of a caregiver by saying, “Nice boobs!” was actually an attempt to avoid the whole issue of poor muscular control. He would also make some comments while he was being bathed or changed. I wasn’t offended (though it took me some time to come to grips with the idea that this person was in many ways no longer my father) and the caregivers just brushed it off.

Unfortunately, I went through this again when my wife developed a frontal lobe tumor. The tumor made her do many things that had no logical explanation and that were totally inconsistent with her normal behavior. She would simply make up some reason that she did this action or that action. The explanation would not make sense, but it was her best effort to make the world comprehensible. It was tragic.

Including the one who massaged Angela Merkel without permission.

Another one. This time from 2003, before he used a wheelchair (which is the explanation in the original statement).

I’ve always had a favorable opinion of HW Bush, and I’ve thought for a long time that if I could have my 1992 vote back I’d quite possibly vote for HW over Clinton. But unfortunately, it is looking less and less likely that this is all some sort of misunderstanding. He’s not as bad as Roy Moore - he didn’t try to rape anyone (from what we know) but he’s a creep. I hate to say that. But that’s what the evidence would suggest.
