We had beautiful mostly clear skies here at 4:45 am. I actually hauled my sorry ass out of bed with Mr. S when his alarm went off, and I went out back to sit on the frozen metal glider out by our fire pit. The stars were brilliant and blazing, but the crescent moon was so bright that my eyes never got really acclimated to the dark. Saw a few planes, but no meteors. Mr. S did see one during the few minutes he was out there with me before getting ready for work. Had a brief cloud bank pass over the moon for a few minutes, but still no luck. Finally my tushie got cold and I went in.
Bummer. Maybe next year. At least I’ve finally added another constellation (Leo) to the meager list of the ones I recognize.
