After just less than 6 months of being on the bricks looking for work I’ve finally paid off!
I just got an offer to become Circulation Director for 4 military technology pubs in Shady Grove, Maryland. (I think it’s actually Gaithersburg but what the hell, right?)
The pay’s not all it could be but I’ve a promise of a large bump in 6 months (sort of a probationary period) and partial ownership in 4 years.
Baby Kate’s daycare is even on the way to the place. Drop her off at daycare, cross the ferry (no Mersey), and zoom! straight down 28 to work!
Can you tell I’m excited?
I’m still in the hopper for the gig I went up to NYC for. I’ll have to see how that plays out (there’s a lot more money and pressure in that one) but at long last I’m back doing what I do best!
Once we had a hurricane or some such coming through and I was doing a there-and-back on the ferry. I asked the operator what the odds were they’d shut down early due to the storm.
Military technology periodicals? Any chance one of those is my old favorite, Defense Helicopter World? Seapower was another good one. The complimentary magazines and the “trade” shows are the only two things I miss from my defense contractor days.
As you can see, they’ve got a formula and they stick to it.
And I’m taking them to the next level.
Opal, the interview was in NYC because that’s the corporate office. The operations office is down here in Montgomery County. No worries! You’ll be seeing me around for a long time.
Ginger, less than the horseshoe I think it was the shining presence of our very own Canadian MAD that turned my luck around.
That or finally saying, “Screw it. I’m throwing the party whether I have a job or not.”
That’s great, congratulations JC? Since you’re in such a good mood perhaps we can let bygones be bygones, so you won’t mind my Military presence in Scandinavia, right?
Are you still going to have time to do all the Dip stuff?
BTW, is this one of them: Military Medical Technology? One of the others said it was down for repairs. Will the job have anything to do with the on-line side?

I’ll still be doing Dip stuff, no worries. I just might cut back on playing. I’m still committed to WorldMasters, after all.
Nothing to do with the on-line side initially. Like most young firms that try to do the circulation on the cheap they’ve screwed it up and I’m going to be spending a great deal of my time fixing it. After that we’ll see what happens. Wouldn’t surprise me if I ended up with that again. It always seems to happen.
