Pretty mundane and pointless but I’m happy about it.
I’ve taken the last year off and the other day I decided that I’d better get back out there. I was a bit worried as I’m 47 and jobs aren’t that easy to come by. My background is in office work and figured I’d have to commute the 45 minutes to the city for work.
On a whim I decided to apply at a place 15 minutes away for a position for which I have no previous experience. Interviewing is one of my strong points and I was offered the position at the end of the interview.
There is a pay raise schedule, medical and dental benefits and unionized job security so I’m pretty stoked!
I’m going to be working for a very large grocery chain as…a cashier!
Hah! My last job WAS corporate government! Working through lunches, not leaving the office till late and laying awake in bed thinking about that report that’s due first thing are now a thing of my past!
It is! I don’t know what I’m going to think of it but I’m going to give it my best shot. I worked in a very busy office so I’m used to dealing with lots of people a day. There will be a lot of memorizing codes and whatnot. Apparently this store sees 5000 people a day :eek:
They are very active in the community and do tons of volunteer work which really appeals to me as well.
Who knows, it might end up being a perfect fit for me!
And I’m going to miss them, too! Octa has given me up as mommy and prefers hanging with the adults but Aqua is still my little baby. She’ll probably start preferring the flock as well once I’m not spending as much time with her
