The Losers

I just got back from seeing this movie and it was a great experience. Over the top and very funny. PlainJain says two thumbs up!

Anyone else seen it? What did you think?

Really? No one? Not only was this a great comic in terms of story and graphic brilliance, but it translated very well to the screen in terms of story, humor and a great graphic tie in (the blue green/ red orange + yellow). It was a good movie, I’m surprised the comic folks aren’t weighing in.

Sorry but I thought I’d give this one bump.

I saw it the same night as Kick-Ass.
It doesn’t compare favourably.

Different strokes I guess. To me Kick Ass was silly and a waste of time. Question: Did you read the original comic?

Thank you for responding.

I didn’t even know there was an original comic for Kick-Ass until a few days before seeing the movie, and I still haven’t read it or have any idea who publishes it.

The Losers was okay… but it hit the various cliché buttons pretty hard. The female lead wasn’t nearly naked enough and her character didn’t make a whole lotta sense. It strikes me more as a hepped up A-Team, which I’ll probably catch in a few weeks.

I saw The Losers last weekend with my wife and another couple. I was the only one in our group who didn’t really enjoy it.

Like Bryan Ekers said, they flogged the clichés to within an inch of their lives - to the point that I felt there wasn’t much else there. I found it tedious, and I usually like this kind of film.

But, like I said, the folks I saw it with all enjoyed it.

Kick Ass was boring except for when it was kicking ass (which wasn’t nearly often enough to make it worthwile).

The Losers was just boring, though the elevator scene was great (too bad it was in the trailer so not a surprise at all).

Iron Man 2 was boring when it was kicking-ass and more interesting (though still something of a self-distracted shambles) when it wasn’t.

Not a good start to the summer action season.

I haven’t seen the movie yet (though I do intend to…eventually), just the trailers.

What stands out? Jeffrey Dean Morgan looks so much like Robert Downey jr, that I ALWAYS initially think it’s an Iron Man 2 trailer. Seriously, if Downey’s unavailable for Iron Man 3, they could get Morgan and nobody’d notice. >_>

Finally saw it on DVD. I really liked the visual style, but it seemed to lack oomph somehow. There were a number of early action scenes that were okay but rather short and the big action at the end just didn’t seem that big with one notable flaming but bordering on ridiculous exception. Can’t say I cared much for the big bad guy character either or his flimsy plot. It’s like the movie couldn’t decide whether it wanted to play it straight or over-the-top comic book (I think over-the-top would have been the correct choice). I’m not exactly unsatisfied, but I was expecting more.

I agree with duality. Liked it in concept, but it lacked spirit and oomph.

Basically, it’s totally underwhelming. The script is better than the final movie.
