When I was a wee Friar, my parents took my brother & I to the DriveIn to see THE MAGIC CHRISTIAN, which I also saw several times on TV, when I was still a young’un.
Then in my late teens, I read the book & understood it the movie moreso, but recalled that the movie didn’t include the book’s conclusion of Guy Grand having people wading into a pool of poop for money…

HOWEVER, today I checked the Amazon DVD listings to find that it is indeed available, with several people mentioning the poop-wading scene! I can understand it being cut from TV showings in the early 1970s, but at the DriveIn showing also?!?!

I first saw it at a drive-in, and it had that scene in it.

Reminds me of my first viewing of the “Sound of Music”. The movie was so long, the theatre that was showing it ended the film after the Wedding, so that the other film could be shown. This was before the multiplex, when theatres only showed two movies at a time. I was later told they had announced this edit but I had gone to the rest room at the time. :smack:

I saw it on TV several times, and the poop scene was there. It was Canadian TV, though.

I saw the movie on TBS about 15 years ago it did have the tank full of sewage and offal that people dove in for money.
