The Major League Baseball Playoff and Predictions Thread

He damn near put that thing into orbit. Go, Sox!

That makes me a little calmer. I’m not relaxing yet, though.

The Fox announcers know that Manny Ramirez didn’t make the play on Lofton, yet they continue to say that he did. They know it was a blown call, yet they keep harping on his defensive play. Why?

In any case, I hate when a game feels like it turns on a blown call and I feel this one did.

Oh well. Go Rockies.

That’s not a blown call. It was a close play that went the wrong way. It happens. Don Denkinger in '85 was a blown call. The Derek Jeter/Jeffrey Maier home run was a blown call. Jose Offerman and Chuck Knoblauch was a blown call. That was just a bang bang play that the umpire got wrong, but understandably so. They’re human.

And the game turned on the third base coach holding Lofton. That was just idiocy.

Come on, its your team. It is not over yet. Papelbon is not especially good at getting 6 outs. Cleveland can still do it. No score is ever secure at Fenway. This is one thing every Red Sox and Yankee fans knows to our core. Don’t let this Yankee fan, out root you.

Jim

When you can tell at full speed with the naked eye that he was safe, it’s a blown call.

When it takes super slo-mo instant replays, then it’s just a close play.

Damn, a touchdown might be safe. :frowning:

Now you get what it’s like to be an Indians fan.

That was a nice catch.

The Red Sox win the pennant! The Red Sox win the pennant!

I hurt.

See you in April.

Go Rockies!

I probably won’t watch much of the Series. I have a tough time keeping any enthusiasm for teams I never watched in the regular series. It’s hard to get a real feel for the team with the terrible postseason reporting.

I’m disappointed the Indians lost, but only a little. This team makes me happy. '95 was special in the “I can’t believe this is happening these are the Indians” way. But this team is my favorite combination of players ever.

Oh Well,

Go Rockies!

Damn, I barely know anyone on the Rockies.

Um… Todd Helton. Matt Holliday.

That’s it.
(A little tiny part of me, buried way deep down, the part that is a baseball fan and not a Red Sox fan, is pulling for the Rockies. Don’t tell anyone.)

Let’s see. Um, there’s Todd Helton. I could pick him out of a lineup if he kept the facial hair.

And there’s Matt Holliday who has a distinctly pointy head!

& LaTroy Hawkins, that’s it for me.

Oh dear. I didn’t know LaTroy Hawkins was even still in baseball.

Troy Tulowitski. There’s another one.

Why are they presenting the AL trophy in the locker room? They are in Boston right? I’d feel a little cheated if I were fan in that stadium right now.

They need to get everyone to leave before the subway shuts down at 1:00 a.m.

I guess the Red Sox’s eighth inning makes the blown call at second and the hold at third moot points now, eh?

GO SOX!

It’s impossible to say for certain, of course, but no. Things change if the team ties or goes ahead.

So it’s possible the score could have been even more lopsided?
