Well it looks like the Angels are going to go quietly into the night.
It is nearly down to the Yanks to prevent the first ever 4 team sweep in the first round.

Jesus, even the official scorer is blowing smoke up Jeter’s ass.
Asdrubal Cabrera bounces one to short. Jeter fields it in plenty of time and throws straight past Giambi’s leaping stretch to allow Cabrera to reach first. An absolute 100 percent throwing error.
And they score it a hit.
They should revise it to an error.
At least it was only one run, but 27 pitches already for Roger.
Jim
And now he’s out of the game. He never really looked good tonight, and it’s clear he’s not completely healthy.
One fly out in four innings. Heh. That’s the best the Yankees can do?
I’m just waiting for a peek into the skybox.
It is not over yet.
Hughes is looking good.
Yes!
Go Yankees!
Now I’m worried.
And, now, I’m leaving this thread. [sub]Trot Nixon…funcking idiot…wait 'til next game[/sub]
Sinatra is Singing tonight.
Well the Yanks got this one.
They put Wang* back out tomorrow against Byrd. Wang is much better at home and hopefully will have his sinker working.
In theory the Yanks can put Roger on the DL and call Ian Kennedy back to join the roster with the rule changes this year.
If they pull off tomorrow, they get to run Andy out for the decider.
Jim
Obviously I’m rooting for the Indians (obvious if you understand that, despite my location, I’m a Sawx fan), but I’m okay with this one going five. Wear 'em out, says I.
Everything I’ve seen says it’ll be Moose tomorrow. Thank God, it wouldn’t do well if we had to bring Sabathia back in to finish you jokers off. I think it’s much better for everyone if we save CC to knock off Boston.
I must say, that Joba guy DOES rule.
But just for like 1 inning.
Can we start calling him ‘Skeeter’ now?
He sure does have a perdy mouth.
Well, I root against the Yanks, but is it nice not to see a team get swept. I’ll enjoy watching the remainder of the series.
I still think it will be Wang. I don’t trust my season to the current Moose. Let us see what Torre & Gator decide.
I hate that “Joba rules” stuff. I have already seen shirts with “Joba Rulz” on them. I enjoy the “Got Rings” shirts and even “Got Melky” or “Bern baby Bern”, but “Joba Rules” just seems stupid too me.
However, I love the player, he might be more valuable as the future closer than as a starter. 70 games instead of 32. I could see apprenticing to Rivera for another two years and then having him take over if he looks legit. He just turned 22.
Jim
I hope this series is a grueling 5-gamer that depletes both pitching staffs. I heard Ron Guidry is going to be coming out of the bullpen is things continue getting worse.
70 games instead of 32, but the innings go to around 150-200 from maybe 100. Chamberlain has multiple pitches, and if it’s true that he can keep his speed up late into games, he’s worth trying as a starter. If it doesn’t work, he can still become a closer later - Rivera started off as a starter, too.
I keep looking at next year as Wang, Pettitte, Huhes, Kennedy and Moose with Karstens, Rasner, Ross Ohlendorf, Matt DeSalvo or even Chase Wright as reserve starters. This leaves Joba free to stay in the bullpen.
There is also the outside chance that the Yanks jump into the Santana auction if the Twins really put him on the Market.
I can see Joba being a very good or even great starter, but I can also see him as the best candidate to take over from Rivera. His stuff is incredible in small doses. I think the Yankees are not desperate for starters next year. We have still not found any 8th inning guys to replace Nelson and Stanton and Mendosa from the World Series years.
Jim
You make some good points. Then again, the team supposedly had a glut of starters going into this year- but Pavano, Karstens and Rasner got hurt and Igawa was a disaster.
