After lengthy preparation, we’re happy to announce the opening of the Marketplace forum, where SDMB subscribers may promote commercial and other ventures they’re involved in. Gary “Wombat” Robson will moderate. Visit the new forum here:
Although only subscribers may start threads, anyone may reply. We have many talented members offering products and services that may be of interest to the SDMB community, and hope the new forum will provide them with a useful billboard.
Just a heads-up, I don’t have permission to start threads there. So you’ll need to either add whatever crazy usergroup you have me in to the access list in the Forum Manager or tell me to shove it.
Would this also apply to non-commercial ventures? e.g. suppose I want to start a thread saying “join me in this Amnesty International letter-writing campaign to free Myanmar prisoner of conscience Su Su Nway”. Would that be OK?
While I’ve no objection to this forum, I wish it were placed elsewhere in the forum list: under the BBQ pit, say, or in the Side Conversations section, a la the Barn House.
I’m posting this here instead of over there. Images don’t work for me in firefox. I just see the URL of the image location hyperlinked. It works in Safari.
Is it possible that this is related to the greasemonkey script? I get the same result whether greasemonkey is enabled or not.
That’s what it looked like when we first set up the forum, Randy, but once Ed got the settings tweaked, it has worked for me on Firefox/Mac. I do have the Greasemonkey script, so I’ve checked it both ways. Let me do some poking around…
Hmm. Odd. I just checked that image thread in the following browsers and it looks fine in all of them.
[ul]
[li]Firefox 3.6.12 - Mac OS[/li][li]Safari 5.0.3 - Mac OS[/li][li]Firefox 3.6.12 - Windows[/li][li]Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180 - Windows (I never use IE so it’s not up-to-date)[/li][/ul]
Odd. It works for me in Safari, but not FF 3.6.12 with (or without) the greasemonkey script. I cleared my cache, and still no dice.
Not that it’s a terribly pressing issue: the greasemonkey script still allows me to preview the pictures. I’m happy to answer any other system questions if you want to fix it for other users, but it’s not a big issue for me personally.
