The Masked Singer Season 3 (Spoilers for aired episodes)

As I said earlier, I wouldn’t be surprised if the early voting is somewhat rigged. From what I understand, there is a lot of work with these celebs getting into their costume, and they all look very stressed when they take of the masks.

If the voting is legit, the audience and judges vote their favorite which is different than voting for least favorite. If people were voting for their least favorite, White Tiger would almost certainly be gone.

It does seem like they engage in some camera trickery when it’s time to unmask a celebrity.

Heh, I had no idea who the Elephant was. The bicycle clue threw me way off, and I was busy thinking of cycling stars like Greg LeMond. Tony Hawk was a real surprise.

I was thinking Dionne Warwick for the Mouse.

Kitty might be a figure skater or a gymnast; I was thinking perhaps Tara Lipinski or Kerri Strug. Actually, Kerri Strug might be a better choice now that I think about it, with the “cats landing on their feet” thing. Also, I think I heard they were making a movie about her pretty soon, she might have ventured back into the spotlight on that account.

Me too, although she’s 5’ 7"…too tall?
Kitty - I heard Sheena Easton, but her movements were so youthful I have a hard time believing it could be her.
Taco - Tim Allen?
Banana - The clues also pushed me towards Darius Rucker, but that’s what they’re trying to do, isn’t it? I wouldn’t be able to tell from the voice.
My husband guessed Dave Chappelle for one of the singers (sorry I can’t remember which at the moment), and I said, “No matter who it is, I’ll be disappointed if you’re not right. Dave would be so great on this show.”

I think the panel was pretty close last night, in that the Taco is Martin Short and the Kitty is Nicole Ritchie.

Alternate guess for the taco : Rick Moranis (he sung in Little Shop of Horrors)

Apparently, there’s going to be a Masked Singer Live Tour this June & July. Just one small detail; only one of the people in the costumes will be anyone that anybody has heard of, and, reportedly, it will be a “local” celebrity in each city - the “highlight” will be when the celebrity is revealed at the end of the show.

Somebody is under the impression that people will shell out decent amounts of money just to look at the costumes (well, and a couple of the celebrity singers, who will be the hosts of the show). It’s not even clear if the people in the costumes will be the ones doing the singing; I suspect they have a group of dancers in the costumes, with the songs pre-recorded by actual singers.

There must be. I’ve looked into getting tickets to be in the audience*, and they make you leave before the unmasking to avoid leaks.
*I haven’t been able to go yet.

I am more convinced that the early voting is rigged. Just can’t imagine any audience not voting for Dionne Warwick after that singing performance.

But Warwick is 79 years old, and it must be tough for anyone that to dress up in those costumes and perform on stage.

I think she sighed up for two episodes, and collected a hefty appearance fee. She probably saw in her crystal ball that the Psychic Friends Network residuals were drying up.

She still has a lovely voice.

The audience is younger. Not sure they cared for Dions slower tempo song.

Agree about the rigging, notfrommensa.

I was excited to see Gabriel Iglesias on last night, but he didn’t get much chance to shine.
Taber, I always wonder how the audience is selected and what their experience is like. Obviously they’re all taught the same gestures for each contestant, and probably asked to sing along or other things as well. They seem so unnatural.

New guess : the banana is Bret Michaels from Poison

I hope you are right, that makes me feel a little better. I was feeling a bit depressed that Chaka Khan and Dionne Warwick are getting outvoted by guys hopping around and shouting at us.

I have seen guesses that the Taco is Tom Bergeron. Seems plausible. I thought he did a fantastic job with the Sinatra tune in the first week, was less impressed by the song last night.

Tony Hawk flatly stated that he was only wanting to do (at most) 2 songs. This summer, we’re heading into our first Olympics where skateboarding is an event, so I’m thinking Tony Hawk has probably got a very busy year lined up, and doing this show for 2 months wouldn’t really be a smart option for him, even if he were a fantastic singer.

I agree; they probably sign on for the “Quick Exposure” package, or the “Lots of Exposure” package.

On last night’s show, they unmasked the Taco.
They did a dumb friendship bracelet thing where all the celebrities gave bracelets to the panelists with clues on them. Except Ken, of course. He still makes me laugh with his hopeful/hopes dashed ridiculousness.
Let’s see, what else…at one point Jenny McCarthy said, “I quit!” I certainly hope they’ll hold her to it! Guest judge was T-Pain. For the Taco, everybody guessed a bunch of old white guys…someone said Barry Manilow, which totally pissed me off because he has a very recognizable voice. Why not Neil Diamond?
Anyway, the Taco was an old white guy - Tom Bergeron, but nobody guessed it. We’ve all totally sucked this season!

Just how does Nicole know that Barry Manilow won two Emmy’s?

A good question!

Frog has got to be Bow Wow (no longer L’il). Clue package testimonial said “I’ve known him since he was a tadpole,” implying that he started young, and “He already had his own entourage.” Bow Wow had a several-episode arc on Entourage, not as himself.

I signed up to get notifications at The Masked Singer

When they became available, I got an e-mail, and was able to sign up for standby tickets - there are priority tickets that guarantee entry, and standby that don’t. It’s about a three hour drive for me, so I wasn’t willing to go without priority tickets.

There’s a lot of detail about how to show up and get in, but not a lot about what it’s like. They want you in nice clothes, it’s 5 hours, and food won’t be provided, so bring some, it is wheelchair-accessible, things like that.

Edit: It looks like Penn & Teller’s show is looking for an audience, if you are in the Vegas area, and want to go on some Tuesday at 1:00 pm

Um, did you guys see that?

Because I’ve been under a lot of stress lately, and I’m thinking maybe it was a hallucination.

I thought she was fantastic!
