Latoya…yawn. I want to know who the Rabbit is.
Dr. Ken still makes me laugh: “Okay, not-Steve-Harvey!”
The updated bracket:
Peacock – Donny Osmond
*Hippo – Never had a guess (tuned in late)…was Antonio Brown
Monster – T-Pain (so says mrs. Cups)
*Unicorn – Tori Spelling but only because that’s what everyone else says…was Tori Spelling
*Deer - Terry Bradshaw…was Terry Bradshaw
Lion – Can’t remember right now
Rabbit – Joey Fatone
*Alien – LaToya Jackson…was LaToya Jackson
*Raven – Ricki Lake…was Ricki Lake
*Pineapple – Tommy Chong…was Tommy Chong
*Poodle – No Idea…was Margaret Cho
Bee – Gladys Knight
The judges obviously don’t have the benefit of the internet like we all do, but I wonder just how many of them know who the singers are and are just playing dumb (or in the case of Jenny McCarthy is actually just dumb).
Got a double elimination next week and then a 2 hour fanale. Hate to say…I’m going to miss this show?
If they could make one change for Season 2, getting rid of Jenny McCarthy should be it. The more I see her the more I dislike her.
I’m starting to change my mind about the Rabbit - I thought it was Joey Fatone for sure, but now I’m thinking it might be Joey McIntyre.
Seconded.
The Bee is clearly Gladys Knight but the internet says she only has 7 Grammys (4 solo and 3 with the Pips) so how do we get to 10?
By this time it seems the public’s guesses have comfortably coalesced into no real surprises when they reveal.
Since we pretty much know who everyone is now, I’m most interested in who is doing themselves good on this show. I think the real winners will be the two that were not guessed by the judges. I think that like me there are a lot of people who did not know Rumer Willis could sing. I don’t watch Empire and only thought of her as a celebrity kid, famous for who her parents are. I think this ups her cred. I also don’t know T-Pain but I think this could help reinvigorate his career. Finally, this just confirms that Gladys Knight is awesome and may actually introduce her to a new generation. It is funny how Keenan absolutely knew it was her. He is clearly a big fan. They need judges who are not as musically knowledgeable. They also need to ditch Jenny McCarthy.
I really enjoy Keenan and he was a great addition to last night’s show. I especially liked the fact that he didn’t do any of that fake “I don’t know who this is! Could it be Betty White? Her name starts with a B!” bullshit.
I have also never hated Jenny McCarthy more. There are vague memories swirling in my brain of a time when she was funny in kind of a smartass way(?) When did she turn into strictly dumb blonde schtick? No doubt my opinion of her is colored by her anti vax dumbassery, but even forgetting that, she is just annoying as hell.
What was with Nicole whats-her-face going into American Idol judge mode with her critique of (I think) Monster’s performance? This show has never been about that and suddenly she’s all serious and earnest. STFU.
Robin Thicke is surprisingly unsmarmy so maybe he’s on the road to redemption. I could see a lot of papa Alan coming through.
Next season I really hope they have people who are not known for singing. I mean, they have to have some degree of fame but it would be fun to rely more on the clues than the voice.
There is no facial expression Jenny McCarthy is capable of making that I wouldn’t like to slap right off.
I’m glad the Lion is gone now. She isn’t anyone I know anything about, except that she has a famous dad.

I think this has been a great trial run for the show for many reasons. They were able to prove it works and they also showed people are REALLY into it, which should attract different celebrities in the future. IIRC, the Korean version features people who aren’t as well known of singers and that’s a bit of the schtick. I very much wish we get this in future seasons. It’s not fair to, say, Antonio Brown that he’s in a competition with Gladys goddamn Knight. Obviously, the singers are going to win.
I want next year’s field to be Ben Affleck, Aaron Rodgers, Meghan McCain and 5 other people who we had no idea could actually sing well.
people who are doing really well in their careers are not likely to do this show, just look at the list and that is pretty much is who they had. Don’t see why that would change next time around.
FTR my list wasn’t a true-to-life one, but the theory behind it still stands. Give me people who don’t normally sing.
I was impressed they got the quality of stars that they did. And I agree, non-singers would make for a better show.
I was very happy that neither Gladys nor Donny got voted off, that would have made me sad. I liked the lineup of contestants this time, but I agree that the huge success of the show should help them expand their horizons even more next time. As far as the judges go, Ken is funny sometimes but the rest could go. Jenny is the only one I actually dislike though.
Did the pros tone down their performances and hide their identity?
Gladys Knight’s voice would stand out no matter what costume she wears.
I’ve caught some of the performances on YouTube.
Next season, I’ll watch the show closely.
All the speaking voices were disguised but I don’t think any singing voices were. I don’t think the pros tried to tone it down, I think they were all trying to bring their A games. You are right about Gladys, there is no disguising that voice. I’ve loved seeing her do this anyway, I’m glad that a lot of younger people will now know who she is.
Feb 28 was a rerun? Must be because I saw that they revealed the lion and rabbit.

New Eps are on Wednesdays (so tonight).
Tonights is the finale where we finally see who the rest of the cast are and declare a winner

I flipped to this near the end just to see who was who. Peacock was indeed Donny Osmond and the winner (Monster) was T-Pain, but I missed bee – was that indeed Gladys Knight?
Thanks
