The medical staff told my daughter I'm not motivated to live

No offense taken.

Oh, lordy!!
Mikey’s waking up.:flushed:

(Wait and see this will end up being my fault.):face_with_hand_over_mouth:

This thread is cracking me up. Thanks @dropzone!

Now I’m wondering what it even means to be motivated to live, and how many people would qualify. How many of us are just insufficiently motivated either way, and go on living as the default do-nothing option?

Well, duh! After all, this thread was triggered by a dream.

I was pondering the same thing.

I’ve had to be motivated or die.
I love telling medical persons, while batting my eyelashes, I’m just trying to ‘live’ here, yanno? Gets 'em everytime.

I’m in danger of trying to make this thread about me. I tend to do that.
I realize the whole world ain’t about me,
Alas.

Mikey knows this about me.

Dude, you stay motivated or else.
B.

As the person replied to, I was slightly offended. I do think it was uncalled for. So thanks @puzzlegal .

I replied to your post, but my response was not targeted at you (or anyone else) personally.

It was a general observation, that there are at least two sides to every story. Something that often seems to be forgotten on message boards. That’s all.

If it’s any comfort, I can be offended for both of you. Or I can offend you. It’s your call.

Thanks @dropzone. That’s the second best offer I’ve had today (the best one was getting my booster shot). I’ll take a raincheck on it though.

You have a good evening coming up with ideas to be motivated about.

Okay, just to clarify just how clueless I can be, I’ve been cruising along convinced I’ve been immunized based solely on my residence in a series of hospitals and nursing homes. I have no recollection of getting any unusual jabs, but on Christmas Oldest showed me PDFs of my vaccination records. I need a booster.

Request a booster. That will cause medical staff to shut their traps.

Don’t worry about what the staff thinks. Even good people can get cranky, and you sound like you have reason.

My mom, early in her nursing career(early 50’s) said the nuns in the Catholic hospital where she had nursing training were often the most surly.

I would argue that simply getting mad at them for saying you’re not motivated to live would be enough to disprove that claim. Anger takes motivation.

We mustn’t lose sight of the dual facts that I don’t know who said it or if anyone at all said it. Reality is at best a guest who comes and goes in this thread.

First-off. Get the booster.

2nd-
You’ve been on hiatus a long time.
So happy to see you’re engaging and actually actively questioning things.
The old @dropzone is back.

Yay!

(But don’t overdo)

Try writing out what you feel about the situation. Nicely. Up to you how much of your feelings you want to explain. But try and explain how you don’t hate the folks working with you on this thing. But maybe dislike a lot of the other aspects of it. How you view it. Maybe how you are just not as freaked out about it as some may expect you to be. But that doesn’t mean you don’t want to live.
Give it to someone there and ask them to pass it around.

I am a pretty stoic person. Outwardly. Many take that as not giving a shit, or even being cold. It can evoke negative reaction to me, even though I try to be kind, polite and not asking much of anyone.

READ THE THREAD! As near as I can tell this episode did not happen! I appreciate your being helpful, BUT IT DIDN’T HAPPEN!

But do ask them for a booster. Like, tomorrow.

Of course!

Um, remind me, 'kay?

I thought your first post was appropriate and reasonable.
