Please drop the misogynistic calling Melania a whore. As there is no proof she worked as a sex-worker this is inappropriate outside of the Pit. We are trying to move beyond such sexist attacks.
To all, please drop the hur-hur hooker jokes also.
The jokes are easy, but even about a much hated figure, still hurtful to women in general.

I know I always say things with a twinkle in my eye.
I wondered if there are any dedicated profits from her for “Be Best.” Despite any drawbacks, if they could use some profits to do a slight good, well then there could be the slightest glimmer of a bright side. And some of my eggs could be sunny-side up.

Well, to some extent. Not to the extent of having “college-age women” supposedly saying “Slay Queen,” though.

Rolling Stone reports that
One person familiar with the production estimated that some two-thirds of the crew members who worked on the film in New York had requested not to have their names formally credited on the documentary. A separate person who will be credited on the film said that, after experiencing the first year of Trump’s second term, they now wish they had not put their name on it. “I’m much more alarmed now than I was a year ago,” that person said.
An independent theater in Portland has been stripped of the right to screen the movie (which, according to the manager, it was only doing ironically) because they were making fun of it on their marquee.
The loss of the theatrical rights is attributed to the Lake Theater’s marquee messages for the documentary. These included: “DOES MELANIA WEAR PRADA? FIND OUT FRIDAY!” and “TO DEFEAT YOUR ENEMY. YOU MUST KNOW THEM. MELANIA…”
Even before the rights to “Melania” were revoked, the Lake Theater & Cafe had received emails from the community asking why the film was being shown at all, according to theater General Manager Jordan Perry’s blog post. “Mostly, I thought doing so would be funny. For some of you, that’s enough. Great! Otherwise… Financially, the film marketplace this week and next were a desert… So, to fill a screen, why not get this inexplicable vanity piece from the current president’s wife? I mean, it just seems so weird that it even exists (who wants a movie about Melania lol?), and wouldn’t it then be exponentially weirder, to the point of being funny, to show it here, at your obviously anti-establishment, occasionally troublemaking, neighborhood cinema?” Perry wrote.
As of now (2/3) the movie has a 1.3 rating on IMDb.

They keep bragging about that $7 million opening weekend. Madame Web made $15 million it’s opening weekend and nobody is saying that movie was a rousing success.
My wife’s cousin posted on Facebook how great the movie was. Very insightful. Yuck.
Well, a writer of fiction, anyways.

If you do yourself one favour this year, do not - under any circumstances - put yourself through this. The only genuine positive was being able to leave, safe in the knowledge I would never have to endure it again.
For people yet to view this movie I will say without spoilers that the current president has only little appearances in this movie so if you’re expecting any real insight behind his life then you will learn nothing. It takes valuable time to bomb sardine fishermen across the globe so he obviously had little time for this.

The whole project is meaningless, I just don’t see what the point was. I’m not really a huge follower of politics but found the idea interesting that you would see behind the curtains for the first time, but behind the curtains I expected more than to learn what breakfast she enjoys.
This is a vampire movie in the truest sense: it feeds entirely on its own reflection, draining you in the process.
The central problem is simple and fatal: Melania Trump remains fundamentally uninterested in being known, and the film colludes with that instinct at every turn. We’re shown surfaces - fashion, décor, choreography - but almost no interior life.
I suspect that’s because there isn’t one.
So, nothing about her feelings when Demento Don was paying for sex with Stormy while she was in the hospital? Or about the year long tryst with the Playboy playmate? No discussion of the the redone prenuptial to get her to move to the White House? Her thoughts on his attempted government overthrow? So just vapid preening?
Color me disappointed.
I guarantee they did. They did a check in from the theater which isn’t by their house. It’s wishful thinking that all the theaters are empty. There are supporters who are willingly going and liking it.
I’m surprised there aren’t a lot more MAGA types swarming in there to bump up the rating. There must be some, though – that would be where the extra .3 comes from!

I suppose it depends on where you live. As noted above I checked Harkins Superstition Springs in east Mesa, which is pretty red* and found fewer than a dozen in the afternoon and evening showings. They seemed genuine as they were in pairs scattered here and there but for one group of four.
Looking today it’s the same story. Two seats together for the 4:30 showing, three pairs at 7:10.
* They elected Andu Fuckin’ Biggs, fer heaven-sake.
