Red John may be fiendishly clever, but he can’t foretell his own future.

well shit…both in terms of my prediction and where they just took the show…
To me, Red John sounds like Garret Dillahunt (who also sounds like Zeljko Ivanek, who was in the pilot episode).
Kirkland from Homeland Security is one twitchy melonfarmer. So, the fake list that Patrick put out as bait - that’s not the seven names on the real list, is it?
right - I figured he planted something on the board as a trap - those were the names kirkland went after - the list that included kirkland was the ‘real’ list.
So - basically everyone works for red john - and it makes no sense to shoot someone shuffling away in chains…
my guess - we’ll get RJ (the one actually doing those specific killings) - but the larger conspiracy will be left open (many will be exposed, but…) - they basically just pulled a play from ‘Burn Notice’…
Hopefully I’m wrong and it will be ‘satisfying’ as they keep promising -
<grumble>
Why would the Cabal leave Lisbon and her team together? They like the work that Jane is doing, that they can just steal from him whenever they like?
Kevin Corrigan is a terrific actor. I’ll miss him on Mentalist, but I’m sure he’ll pop up in some other show I watch sooner or later. The guy’s everywhere.
Geez… tonight’s episode is like fucking Chinese water torture. (It’s still on.) More later.
Well, f u c k.
qft
Okay, so there are three Red Johns, someone has gotten shot (and it isn’t Patrick), and Patrick’s whole house has blown up. Styles keeps telling Patrick that it is more complicated than he realizes; I don’t think Red John is one guy any more - it’s the whole secret Cabal, which is why they’re always three steps ahead of Patrick.
Which doesn’t explain the killing of Jane’s family, which was clearly done out of pique over what Jane said about him on the talk show. That’s the action of an individual, not a cabal.
And I don’t think it was Jane’s main house that blew up. It seems like it was a small guest house on his property.
Red John is one person with a lot of henchmen.
Tiger-tiger is a cabal of corrupt law enforcement. Smith we know is evil. Bertram may be a member as part of an undercover investigation. Or not.
McAllister may be Red John, and the couple who were beginning murderers in episode where he was introduced may have been his proteges. It also seemed as if he wanted to take Van Pelt. But he just doesn’t have the charisma.
Younger Stiles is the only one who had the charisma to get so many followers. However, it seems as if his ego wouldn’t allow him to keep his Red John identity secret for so long. Also, he wouldn’t have helped Lorelei escape prison into Patrick’s arms.
Smith seems too uncontrolled and repulsive and not smart enough to be Red John.
Haffner seems not smart enough and not confident enough.
So, at this point, I’m betting on Stiles or McAllister.
Well, that was strange.
I guess Red John was so evil that it was okay for Patrick to kill him with his bare hands. Who the heck was the woman in the chapel with the knife? Were those legitimate FBI personnel? And the previews for next week’s show…Patrick living it up in some tropical country? Does that mean the series is over? Many questions.
I thought pulling the pigeon out of his pocket was a nice touch.
The pigeon and the hidden handgun was a nice touch - the rest of that fell very, very flat for us.
Church lady was just another disciple there as RJs fallback (I assume ‘if’ gunshots were heard).
So, If I get Jane’s plan - he planted the gun that did the killing in RJ’s hand - I think that was Bertram’s gun - making Betram vs Sherrif in the shoot out - but then leaves a message for Lisben using RJ’s phone? that he simply tosses in a convenient trash can? Didn’t he leave his own gun behind?
The red john from the mall felt like a much better end to the RJ story - this felt like a total wasted “screw the audience, we have to stretch it out” story.
Whatever peace Patrick finds in the next episode will be short-lived. The stabby woman walked out of the cemetery and will try to kill the woman Patrick is dancing with in the preview.
Hell-it may very well be that the stabby woman is the real “Red John”. It’s not like the show hasn’t lied to us before.
Or else she’ll take over and become the new Red John.
Do y’all think that was the real FBI? So Jane’s support team will have to go get jobs working security at Wal-Mart?
Truly disappointed. It felt like the writers threw together a bunch of randon storylines a few weeks ago. There are a zillion questions to be answered but I guess the audience is supposed to not care as long as Patrick is happy that Red John is dead. I figured Red John just died of his wounds–I didn’t get that Patrick finished him off by strangling, but at that point I was so pissed off that I wasn’t giving the show my 100% attention.
I was so wanting Cho to rip the suit off the head FBI agent to reveal 3 dots on his arm. I just know the FBI thing is a fake. And yes, WTF was the woman in the church and why didn’t Patrick send a bullet through her? And wouldn’t the gun he put in Red John’s hand have his (Patrick’s) prints on it or did I totally zone out on that?
I will watch next week just to make sure Cho is still around. If not, I’m done.
I read somewhere that next weeks episode takes place 2 years in the future - Grace and Rigsby are gone but Cho and Lisben are still around.
I too was very disappointed. Seemed like they rushed the ending. It had no substance at all, and I don’t believe for one second that Jane didn’t want to know how Red John got the list of names.
Ooooo! That would have been CHOICE!!
I thought about that but rationalized that that was the gun Patrick brought with him, and everyone knew Patrick was there, so maybe his prints on the gun wouldn’t matter. I lost track of the guns. Lazy thinking on my part. (Okay…I was playing Mah Jongg on my kindlefire during some of that.)
For a minute there, I thought Jane was going to shoot himself. That would have wrapped up things very tidily.
Won’t miss Grace and Rigsby at all.
That is a pretty major plot point to just ignore.
