For once a redneck modification of mine has actually worked better than I expected!
I’m feeling the squee right now.
Thank yous and squees to all my fellow Ballyhoo Fox Trot bandsmen for a great first Bix Fest experience, and for ignoring my less than perfect sight reading.
Thank you and squee to Dr. C the Younger for a damn near painless root canal procedure. Gracious, what a wonderful age we’re living in.
So, don’t expect you guys around the boards much this weekend, eh?
We’ve got plans to drive to Creston, BC to visit with my sister and brother-in-law who lie there - and it’s cherry season! It’s a little bit amazing how many cherries you can eat when they’re fresh off the tree in the front yard.
amazing that your sis and BIL only tell fibs in one place - do they store them up and let 'em loose all at once?
(d&r)
That’s what I’m sayin’.
Oh, the difference one little “v” makes.
jsgoddess and Asimovian, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G…
Last night I went shopping and not only did I finally find the type of photo mosaic I’ve been looking for - I found it in brown and not black! Score for only $12!
The ATF finally approved my Form 1 after 150 days!
I pick up a new suppressorthis weekend!
quiet squee!
I have green tomatoes and they will be fried!

where’s the drooling with lust of the nommy goodness smiley??
Today driving home I saw a bird on the road up ahead so I slowed down. As I got closer I could tell that it was a quail so I came to a stop. Up from the other side of the road came the teeny tiniest quail baby I’ve ever seen. It could only walk a few steps then it would plop down, take a few more, then plop. It was way too cute and must have just hatched today.

This video of an orchestra fail made me laugh until tears were welling up. Nice kettledrums, though.
This is awesome. I was laughing so hard, my husband came into the living room to find out what going on, and he nearly fell over in tears of laughter when I replayed it for him! I’m going to listen to it again, and maybe even post it on Facebook!
My cat likes to sleep in funny positions in corner/against the armrest of the couch. Earlier she was on her back, but with her butt curled up so both back feet stuck straight up into the air, then she curled up a bit more normally, except one front paw was sticking up against the back of the couch as if she was holding up her hand to ask a question (or a sleepy Heil Hitler…she isn’t a kitler, but does have a small black stain on her upper lip!) Now she’s got her head and front paws hanging over the top of the armrest, with her back legs kind of facing the other way, squished into the corner of the couch. I wish I had a camera handy!
My husband and I got out for dinner and a movie (both! on the same night!) for the first time since our daughter was born in November. It was heaven not to have to put anyone to bed.
That said, my baby girl started saying mama accurately last week. And she started to cruise, too. The cruising is bittersweet, though - it reminds me that she’s growing up and sometimes thinking about that sucks because, barring birth control malfunctions, she’s going to be my last. I just want to bury my nose in her fat baby cheeks forever. But then I think about her sweet baby cheeks and her slightly strawberry-like smell and I can’t help but smile.
Oh, yeah - I went to the Y to get some laps in and was challenged to a race by a teenaged boy in the next lane (I was in the fast lane; he was in medium). And I beat him! My plump almost middle-aged girly ass beat him! Suck it, whippersnapper!
I’m heading off for my second job interview of the day, and if I don’t end up at the first school I was at, it will be because I chose to go elsewhere. Two interviews, and hopefully two offers. I’ve never gotten to choose the better of two before…
My friend Thom came to visit yesterday. We originally met on eHarmony but it didn’t work out. But we are great friends now - totally worth the $200 I wasted to wind up with him as a friend!
Hadn’t seen him in person for over a year (he lives in another state) - he came and hung out with me, my boyfriend, and my friend Micki and we laughed a lot. So fun.
In a bad economy one of the work at home companies that I work for is paying me for five days vacation time this week. Better yet they’re paying it at my high hourly freelance rate.
Company X you know you are. And, yes, I love you!
I just found out that there is an iPhone app for the NY Times crossword puzzle! For a small subscription fee I can get the daily puzzle on my phone. And it tracks my stats and everything! Squee!
I spent the weekend doing nothing at all. Yes, I am an introvert, and I enjoyed it. I had gotten to play D&D with five really good guys on Friday night, one of whom I hadn’t seen in several months, so I did get some socializing in there.
The absolute best part of all was that after three weeks of pain following several months of stress, I was able to get two solid nights of good, pain free sleep, and get up late each day.
So it was a very good weekend for me.
Chimera, that’s great. Glad to hear about the pain-free nights.
My boyfriend came over yesterday and we were waiting for another couple for a double date. We sat out on the porch because I’m moving and the house is a mess.
My next-door neighbors have a pair of eleven-year-old twins who are, in short, incredibly annoying, came up on the porch. Most people’s (including my own) reaction to them is to go somewhere they are not. Which can be difficult because they just follow.
Anyway. My boyfriend has been over on the porch a few times and the twins always come over and sit and sort of stare at us. He’s so sweet to them, though. He did this whole routine of tricks with his hand and had them laughing like crazy. He showed them hand-whistling and taught them how to do it, taught them the sign language alphabet and how to spell their names, all sorts of stuff. They’re obnoxious as fuck, honestly, and he was just lovely and patient and kind to them.
