…the more it seems so obvious that John McCain will be the next president of this country (USA). Honestly, if you were forced to take 100% of your life savings and bet it on who becomes the next president, who would you pick?
Neither. I *want *Obama to win, but I was surprised that Bush won a second term- so clearly, I can’t judge these things.
I will vote for the Democratic candidate, but not bet on it.
You have to bet. That’s kinda the point.
Ok, to quote Wesley Snipes, “Always bet on Black.”
Consider that currently Obama and Clinton are both attacking each other, hurting their poll numbers, while McCain just sits in a lawn chair benefiting. Once the nomination is settled, the nominee will be doing much better. Hell, even with both of them fighting and McCain getting a free pass for months, the polls show that they both have a decent chance of beating him. Relax. There is still plenty of hope.
McCain.
If Obama gets out of this alive, then he’ll be plenty battle-tested to get through a general campaign. Same with Clinton. Both candidates are flush with more cash than McCain has.
I think Obama gets the nomination and the presidency, I just hope he can live up to half the hype he’s created.
If Obama gets the nomination, that’s when all the rest of the dirt on him gets revealed.
McCain will have to deal with Keating 5. If people want to go back into Hillary and Obamas history then he will have to deal with that again. I think it will strike a chord.
You don’t Hillary is digging like crazy already? I don’t think there is much more dirt to uncover. Obama and his wife just need to guard their mouths a little more closely - he does not need to defend yet another controversial comment.
Oh, I think there’s tons of dirt left on both of them, probably more about Hillary.
The OP raises a good point. I’ve heard polls saying X% of Obama supporters would vote for McCain if Clinton gets the nomination, and X% of Clinton supporters would do likewise if Obama gets it. Sigh.

Which would likely hand the election to McCain and be absolutely fan-fucking-tastic. The thing that scares me more than an Obama presidency, or a Clinton one, or even a McCain administration, or God forbid a Hitler presidency is four more years of having a president and a majority of Congress from the same party. That’s what allowed Bush to run amok with spending and other stuff, getting us into the mess we’re in today, Democrats won’t be a bit different. Since I don’t see the Republicans gaining a majority in the House or Senate this fall, it’s imperative that we elect a Republican to the White House. It’s one of the main reasons I’m supporting McCain.
