The Most Indecipherable Dopers.

We can cut the German speakers a little slack.

From the link:

And you are still wrong:

Just in case the search function is giving no matches to others not making a particular search: I did make the search to a year ago and all older posts to show how your point is indeed ridiculous. Nowadays, the weaponized ignorance is coming from Trump and the Republicans, so it is normal that a lot is geared towards them in the current year, but even in the current year I have not done just that. So thank you at least for demonstrating to all how your blinders are set.

Ok, mea culpa. I erred in selecting Gigo over someone like Dropzone. Dropzone is a much more confusing doper.

My guess about the “see query” thing is that he’s saying “see question in thread title”? I don’t know, that’s my guess at least.

Wait, you think more powerful interests are arrayed against climate change legislation than for it? That kind of explains your bizarre tone when it comes to climate change legislation. Calm down buddy, your side is much more powerful unless you discount every government and regulatory body in the worlds most industrialized nations.

Also, i misspelled indecipherable in the thread title. Can I ask a mod to modify it?

<hijack>

What other languages capitalize nouns besides German? Just curious how common it is.

Line of coke, maybe.

Give Dropzone a harumph!!!

I think un- and in- are both still acceptable.

Google ngram

Un- used to be the more common variant; I’m not sure what the explanation is for the steady change over the last century.

Yeah, the all-powerful leviathan states of the world just want to crush the defenseless energy industry for…what was the reason again?

usedtobe often comes off as rambling and incoherant.

Good one.

I don’t think you understand what that expression means, or if you do, you’re using it wrong. It means to try to solve problems with familiar or readily available methods even when they’re not appropriate. Having a sound background in climate science doesn’t lead one to inappropriate actions. Ignorance does. Like yours, and that of your fellow Republicans. And WillFarnaby down here:

You mean like the awesome actions taken by the Trump regime to address climate change? Or that of the Bush/Cheney regime? Or even Obama’s relative inability to do much about it, the failure of the 2009 Copenhagen climate talks, or the relative weakness of the Paris accord, because almost no government has the guts to take a stand and actually commit to decisive action? Would that be the kind of “powerful interests” you’re talking about? Which are all scared shitless to do anything because every fossil fuel interest on earth, every heavy industry and most of the others too, have politicians bought and paid for who know which side their bread is buttered on, and half the public is against climate action because they’ve been brainwashed by the most extensive saturation lobbying in the history of underhanded PR. Yeah, I think the problem is you’re fucking delusional.

Is this thread going to be sidetracked by a discussion about climate change? Aren’t there enough other threads for that?

Margarine hat.

I don’t usually hang out in the threads that GIGO participates in, but this prompted me to read some of his stuff. I’d just like to wholeheartedly agree with wolfpup, he doesn’t belong on this list.

Ok, to let’s say you’re right, and we have a poster whose schtick is to take the trouble to write extensive well-referenced posts to counter the tiresome and repetitive disinformation from climate change denialists. Would you respect him more if instead his schtick were to write a dumb catchphrase at the end of every post ad infinitum, ad nauseam?

You can always understand what usedtobe is saying, though. It’s incoherent on merit, not because of the phrasing, if you see what I mean.

I don’t know, he has posted some pretty odd rambles. It often seems as though he is having a dialogue with someone who the rest of us can’t see.
