The most meta subreddit: r/outside

Basically, it pretends like real life and the real world is a MMORPG. And they really, get into it. I mean like really, really, really get into it. The most mundane details of life, along with the weirdest oddities, are translated into RPG-speak.

Very entertaining to browse. An example – here’s a review of the game: https://www.reddit.com/r/outside/comments/78ifr6/outside_the_review/

That’s all actually pretty clever, to me at least.

I read the review but I’m not even going to start going down the rabbit hole of the other topics! I read the topic list and they seem pretty clever.

I’m the person who was inspired by Amazon reviews of zoo animals and then made all my Facebook friends write them for their pets and kids, so obviously I’m into this sort of thing…sigh.

Another interesting meta subreddit is r/nosleep where people write scary stories. The gimmick is that commenters need to treat the OP as telling the truth which can lead to interesting role-play.

Some favorites from nosleep:

Room 733
My Brother died when I was a child. He kept talking. I think people should know what he said
I can’t tell you not to go to Meteor Lake, but I can tell you what happened there.
