The Movie Game II

Gotta go for what I saw last night –

The Merchant of Venice

Jeremy Irons

A Chorus of Disapproval

Hah! I’ve stumped you guys. A hint then. In this film, based on a stage play by Alan Ayckbourn, Jeremy Irons plays opposite a Welshman playing, for once, a Welshman. Although, he still puts on an accent like all good professional Welshmen.

Anthony Hopkins, he suggests tentatively, since that’s the only actor (male) that he knows is Welsh…

Yep, I confirmed it on IMDb. I never liked A. Hop…way overrated.

Hearts in Atlantis. Ugh.

I never understood what that title was supposed to mean, but I don’t think I’ve seen the whole film, either.

Hope Davis

American Splendor

Paul Giamatti

Let’s go for the first thing I remember him from –

Duets

Is that the one that had Huey Lewis singing it?
And sure, the guy probably wins an Oscar for his recent film, and you drag out Duets? You are cruel, cruel woman. It’s all about the singing with you, innit?

So, are you playing Huey Lewis, or merely thinking aloud about the movie?

Yeah, I could have gone for Sideways (for which he wasn’t nominated for an Oscar, BTW) – but went for the first movie I remember thinking – “who is that actor? he’s really good!”

(And no, it’s not about the singing – if you read the musicals threads, you’d know it’s all about the dancing. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Oh yeah, I was playing Huey, if that’s right, to get back at you for that movie.

Maria Bello

Oops. I misread the discussion. I guess Huey Lewis is still in play. Sorry.
:o

Short Cuts

I loved Jennifer Jason Leigh’s character in that one.

I believe Bruce Davison (Davidson? I can never remember) was in that.
