The Movie Game

I thought this thread was dead…but no, it LIVES…

Doesn’t look like it.

Spider

That’s too funny. I almost mentioned Spider in my last post, but couldn’t quite recall the name. The reason was that we watched Auto Focus over the weekend, and one of the trailers was for that movie. I was going to ask if it was any good. I’m struggling to remember who any of the principals were other than Ralphy-baby. So, opinions on this film? (I am generally intrigued by Cronenburg’s work, if that helps)

Hey, guys. Long time, no post.

Miranda Richardson.

Okay, that was exhausting. I need a glass of wine.

Well, Spider is definitely intriguing. It’s got an excellent (and eerie) concept, but it does get a little boring in points. Fiennes gives quite a good performance considering that he has very little dialogue to work with. Basically, rent it. It’s one of those movies that had me scrambling for the IMDB message boards after I watched it in order to clarify some things. (I freely admit the ending whooshed me at first. :))

Unfortunately I don’t know Miranda Richardson, so someone else will have to pick up after Maureen.

Next time I recommend a glass of wine before and after posting. Helps to combat fatigue.

Nightwatch Trailer: Miranda Richardson is one of those actors that you know but think that you don’t know. She’s been in a lot of stuff, mostly British, some of it that you’ve certainly seen. She voiced one of the main characters in Chicken Run, but for this game let’s go with

Tom and Viv

Question: Are documentaries fair game? What about hybrids like Looking for Richard?

I would say documentaries are fair provided that they received a theatrical release.

I’d further say that some acting or semblance thereof should be involved. For instance, I’m not sure that Charlton Heston in Bowling for Columbine should count.

Yeah, that makes sense. Specifically I was thinking of Looking for Richard, which has documentary features, but at least is about acting and does show some actual drama.

*Capturing the Friedmans * would be a harder case, as would Fog of War.

The judges will allow Looking for Richard

And I will recuse myself from answering this one.

Ummmm

Looking for Richard**

Kevin Spacey

Shall I submit a movie that I like, or that I dislike? Let’s go for one I like.

The Usual Suspects

Chazz Palmienteri (usually disclaimer on misspellings)

Okay, since Poolhall Junkies didn’t go over so well last time (not naming names, mind you…), and Excellent Cadavers has almost an entirely Italian cast that won’t take us anywhere…

Down to Earth

Chris Rock

Hmmmm the oeuvre of Chris Rock. Let’s go with Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Mark Hammill then (again with the misspellings… Hamel? Hamil? Hamill? Hammil? I can think of a dozen more, each less likely than the previous… Hoemal? Hoemeol? )

Star Wars: A New Hope
