I thought it was nice that one of the CBS guys mentioned Myron Cope before the trophy presentation, and he got a big cheer from the crowd. I’m sure Myron’s loving this, wherever he is.
I’m so excited that the Steelers are back in the Big Game. I would have loved to have Steelers/Eagles in an All-Pennsylvania Super Bowl, but the Cardinals have made a great run. I love underdog, come from nowhere teams (like the 2005 Steelers), and I would totally be rooting for the Cardinals if they were playing anyone else.
Despite being complete pussies during the season, the Cardinals really came together during the post-season, so I think it’s going to be a lot closer than people realize. If the Steelers secondary can shut down The Fitz, it won’t even be close.
As a Cincinnati resident who will probably never in his lifetime ever again see the Bengals in a playoff game (thanks to the ineptness of bungling owner Mike Brown), I have to say ‘hats off’ and give kudos to another family-run NFL team and announce . . .
Go Steelers!
(But leave the terrible towels at home, please. I have to admit that even as I root for the Steelers, I find the towels quite annoying.)
Ah, but whatyou didn’t mention was the Card-Pitt’s record – I think it was 0 and 10. That’s right, no wins at all. Maybe I should mention that to the Lions fan I live with as a way of consoling him.
Unlike most Steeler fans I know, I was hoping that the Eagles would win yesterday. I think that the Cardinals have the most dangerous type of offense for a defense like the Steelers. I really don’t want Warner throwing 40+ times in the SB. If he does, I think we’ll need at least 1 sack or interception for every 10 or so pass attempts. I’d also like to see Mewelde Moore used a bit more than yesterday. If Moore can get 3-5 carries before halftime, I think it will improve Parker’s chances of breaking a big one at some point in the game.
I just got into football a few seasons ago, but I got into it hard. I’m in Northwest Indiana, so by default, I stood by the Bears, rooted for the Colts. I also liked the Pats, and some random teams, but mostly it was - “Meh…”
As of this season, I now have a team - The Pittsburgh Steelers! Yahoo!
This is it - I can now feel free to buy team apparel, put a sticker on my car, argue about them until my face gets red, fantasize about a big naked bear hug from Roethlisberger, etc.
Really? You’re going to keep bringing up a time I was absolutely correct, and you were entirely wrong, throw in some implicit straw men, and try to embarass me a year and a half later?
Oh hey-any of you who watched the inauguration-did you see the one guy waving the Terrible Towel? (At one point, he held it up in front of the cameras)
No, but I was at the inauguration. I saw a car that had Steelers emblems painted all over it and 4 Steeler flags, one on each corner, flapping in the wind. I almost let him through my checkpoint.
Yeah, boy is my face red! The offensive line of the Browns has led them to unbridled success, whereas the mediocre Steelers offensive line has led them to nothing but wrack and ruin.
the game should be pretty dull, i think. either the steelers have no answer for boldin and fitzgerald, or the cardinals will have no answer for the steelers’ defense. either way, i think it’ll be pretty clear by halftime who’s going to win. and here’s to hoping it’s the steelers!
Flew out of Tampa today. There was a USAirways jet painted in Steelers colors. You fans would have gone nuts. I think Super Bowl week is just ramping up, but I’ll be out of town all week, getting back late on Super Bowl eve.
Good luck to both teams, but it’s going to be a Steelers home game in most respects.
