I agree she is 100% responsible, and her complaint of a “trap.” is ridiculous. My only disagreement is over the magnitude of the “mistake.” (Maybe because I have a hair cut appointment for next week). I just don’t think anyone (who matters) cares that she had her hair blown out (whatever that means).
It may be beside your point, but it’s not beside my point, which is that both Nancy Pelosi and the salon owner are guilty, perhaps of different things. Pelosi violated the rules in place, and the salon owner allowed the rules to be violated. (Not talking about removing the mask but about allowing the indoor appointment to occur.)
Random thought, but while watching her in interviews, the thought “She’s aging and losing a step or two” has flashed in my head. She fumbles her words more than she has in the past.
Yeah, I noticed that as well. It’s quite sad because I’ve always thought of her as a grande dame.
Yeah same here, which is partly what inspired this thread. I admit that when Pelosi jousted her way back into becoming the Speaker again, there was a part of me that wondered how she’d hold up over the long haul. She’s still as feisty as ever but she’s, what, almost 80?
I agree with this. She fucked up and should own it already. It’s funny though, that the con man can visit factories and crowded places without a mask and Republicans don’t give a shit. But they’d like to use this as Pelosi’s downfall.
IOKIARDI, bobot! Have you forgotten?
Yeah, that is true. The bar is higher for her.
I think the obvious problem that Pelosi has created is that she is in a position of power, and she’s an advocate of mask wearing, shutting down businesses, and so forth, and yet here she is flaunting her position in society to get privileged treatment. I think there’s obviously more nuance than that, but unfortunately, those are the optics
I guess it just never fails to fuck me up.
They can all go piss up a rope.
But if Dems want to maintain respect among their own voters, they can’t afford to be making unforced errors like this. And if/when they do, we ought not be squeamish in calling it out.
Oh yeah, I agree. If you think wearing a mask is a good idea, then you wear a mask. She fuckered the pooch.
Here’s what I do: I make them call a liberal out as a hypocrite. That’s what they’re going for. Then I say “so?” and watch them splutter about how hypocrisy is sooooo wrong. Then I remind them that they don’t have any problem with conservatives who are hypocrites, so why should I have a problem with it happening? Aren’t they being hypocritical now?
It usually ends the conversation.
Seems to me it would be more effective to try to avoid hypocrisy rather than point out that their side does it too.
Sure; why don’t you tell us all how to rewind time so Ms. Pelosi doesn’t do what she did?
The cries of “liberal hypocrisy” are going to ring out, no matter what. They think it’s a “gotcha” moment, and they live for it. So throw it right back in there faces, IMO.
The conservatives are latching onto Pelosi’s hypocrisy, not that she was maskless. Pelosi has been telling people to wear a mask and comply with all guidelines, while Republicans say it’s all a liberal hoax and only sheeple who want to be controlled by the government wear masks. When a Republican goes maskless, there’s no hypocrisy. It’s in line with what they’ve been saying since the beginning.
I see your point, but that’s only true if they never wear a mask. Even the con man has been known to (get ready for it…) Don one here and there.
Right; so it’s fair game to point out their hypocrisy for wearing a mask. That’s gonna end that conversation.
She’s also rich enough to pay a stylist to come to HER.
Sheesh.
This is what I don’t understand. Pelosi had people come out to style her hair all these months. Nobody called that elitist. She says she called for her regular appointment and was told she could come there so she did. So NOW she’s an elitist. Seems to me it’s far more exclusive to have someone come to you.
I don’t care one way or another about her or honestly any of this political shit lately, this just looks so suspicious to me that this one time she is told by the stylist that she is able to see one person in the salon now at a time so she comes to her and the owner conveniently records it and makes sure to catch her without her mask. Does this not look like a YUUUGE set-up? And Trump is loving this way too much. Who does his hair and spray tan anyway?
Yes, they set her up and it was a dirty trick. The salon owner turned up on Tucker Carlson’s show, and that was no accident. Have you seen her? She looks like a typical trumper.
Nancy Pelosi isn’t a liar, and when she said that she was set up, I have zero doubt that she was.
