I knew it got renewed, but had no idea the 2nd season had started yet (in the Friday night death slot :() until it showed up in my Hulu queue. The resolution of last season’s cliff-hanger is a little vague, but it seems Larry’s father has cut the Bird-Kersees financially which could lead to some interesting storylines. Also Reggie Jackson’s genetically ordained soulmate has arrived on Earth. I loved the family [del]war[/del] conference room. Oh, and the possibility of Amber getting Reggie pregnant with a litter of orchids. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
It is a stupid stupid show and I will watch it faithfully.
One of the characters even mentioned that, saying, “we’ll be working on this [finding a job for the father] all year.” Kind a way to wink at the audience, saying that the job search is going to be an ongoing plot point.
BTW, I remember that, based on the show description, this show looked like it wouldn’t make it, but it’s made it to a second season and is pretty funny.
Well Jackie is the breadwinner now. It’s funny how little Larry actually had to lie; other than switching “Zabvronian” with British. Hell even the kids bizarre acts can be passed off as them trying to cover being born [del]on Earth[/del] in the States. And is Larry even still the Zabvronians’ leader since his father dismissed him? :dubious: I notice we haven’t seen any of the bit players from last season; I guess most of them went back to Zabvron (though last week had those 2 guards). That’s a lot of vacant houses left behind. Oh, and tonight’s episode title; The Neighbours.
I liked the joke about moving to the “pity slot on Friday nights”… or something like that.
Yes, they were complaining about something else being canceled (Smash?) and how it didn’t even get a pity move to Friday.
They were also pretty meta joking about how Shark Tank was coming on in XXmins, which was actually completely true as it comes on right after Neighbors.
They did it again when Larry scoffed at the very idea of watching TV on a Friday night. Plus Debbie Bus Stop Callahan, Alien vs. Predator, and the whole subplot with Dick. I’m actually surprised that Larry was willing to take him to a human doctor without the slightest concern they’d discover something out of the ordinary. I kept expecting something, especially have the x-ray. Still no sign of any of the other Zabvronians.
Hell, barely any sign of the two younger Weaver children. I think they’ve been MIA for two weeks now.
They were both back for tonight’s episode.
I laughed my ass off when Larry went to the kids to give the candy out…
The highly inappropriate things the youngest Weaver says just crack me up. It’s not even that she’s saying anything too bad, just stuff a little girl shouldn’t be thinking up, let alone saying.
Tonight was really good. Loved Jackie’s line about stage whispering not working. And her parents are apparently sticking around. To Be Continued.
Call me whatever, but I am digging this show. It’s a fun, clean (with the occasional sub-dirty reference thrown in) show. It’s my fave on Friday nights (at least on the DVR) show. I think it’s funny and light, and at the very least, it’s not a reality show. I like it. So nyaahhh.
And besides, I have a man-crush on Jamie Gertz.
I love it when Jackie puts on some other accent. Very funny on the part of the actress.
“That took a lot of balls Larry.”
Enjoyed the Christmas episode very much. It’s a fun bit of fluff.
Max & Abby were missing again, which was odd since most since most of this episode took place at night. I liked the call back to the Zabvronian males being the ones to carry the children, but does this mean that Reggie Jackson is over 4 hundred years old? I thought he & Dick were born after the Zabvronians got stuck on Earth. Granted it’s already been established that they have really long lifespans which makes all this soul mate stuff even sillier; Amber will be dying of old age while Reggie’s still a hormonal adolescent. That be fun to watch her realize.
So what’s a widget?
It’s in the syllabus.
I hope that no one here will object to my sharing an excerpt from one of this season’s recent episodes.
Larry Bird was talking about a game he had been watching on TV. He said, “I thought that I was watching a group of people walking towards a game they were about to play. But, imagine my surprise when it turned out they were actually playing that game!” He was referring to a game of golf.
“I couldn’t believe it. It had to have been the most tedious and boring game I have ever seen. How can anyone stand to watch hours upon hours of this game?”
I must admit, I just love this stupid show. That was the single greatest spoof I have ever seen about the game of golf! Oh my! I just absolutely loved that! It was truly amazing!
