The new Anakin has been selected

I know that there are alot of Star Wars fans out there, this is just in:

Never heard of him, but he’s kinda cute.

If you read further on down the line, you will see the true eye-opening horror of what will come:

Jar Jar will be back.

::shudder::

Yay! A Canuck!

He looks like a cookie-cutter example of the bubblegum-pop, teenybopper punk-asses that Hollywood crams down our collective throat. I am ALWAYS delighted to see these greasers rake in the mega-mega-millions.

Thumbs down on the choice.

Anyone except for Leonardo DeCaprio (who I had heard it would be), and I’ll be fine.

Yum.

Aww… let’s give the poor guy a chance. Maybe he’ll lose the boy-band look before shooting.

Relax, no one in Star Wars dresses like that or has a haircut like that. He’ll change. Oh yes, he’ll change. If I have to shave his fucking head myself, he’ll change.

I can’t see much difference. My immediate reaction was “BLAUUGHHH!”

Star Wars fans, let’s give the man some credit. George Lucas is superior to us all. He’s not some bumbling idiot who has accidentally stumbled upon 250 million dollars and a camcorder. He’s a cinematic genius, who, despite all manners of criticism, is making the best movies in history right now. This dude may suck, which I hope he does not because Darth Vader is the coolest fictional character ever, but I think Lucas knows best. God knows I could never make one of those movies. As for the hair and clothes, OF COURSE it wouldn’t be that Dawson’s Creek shit he has on there. Anakin is at this point a Jedi Padawan, which means passive brown robes, short bristly hair, and a long thin braid. Of course, I’m not happy because Lucas didn’t pick me. I don’t like the idea of watching anyone kissing my Natalie. But I guess I don’t have to worry. It’s a stage thing.

Oh, yeah, I’d also like to defend Jar Jar. I really don’t think he’s as horrible as seems to merit the amount of attention he is receiving. He was well-animated, and I think Ahmed Best is very talanted. And if you watch the movie you will find that he doesn’t take away from the story that much, and is very easy to ignore.
In conclusion, I excitedly await Episode II, and I must say, if The Phantom Menace is as bad as it gets, we have some very fine films in the Star Wars saga indeed.
All hail King George!!!

Did anyone catch that last line in the article about him being able to retire from the business for good in a few years? Was that a remark that he will be set for life, or a dig at the career of Mark Hamill?

Just wondering.

But they picked this guy over Ryan Phillipe??!! I know that Lucas knows best, but maybe he
should have had a women pick Anakin for this flick–we know how to go for jedi knight and
great lover.

Of course, it may not be possible to be a Jedi knight without being a great lover–cross training
is a wonderful thing. Or am I bringing down the level of the discussion? I hope so.

I think this Chip guy, or whatever his name is, will do fine. Besides, could he possibly do any worse than the previous Anakin. And remember, we haven’t even seen him in action. He might be a fine actor.

AAAAIIEEEEEEE!!! He looks like a teen boy-band dropout! Oh dear god. And he has…like…nothing in common with Jake appearance-wise. Are we supposed to believe that Anakin-as-we-know-him got massive plastic surgery or something?
