Not trying to give him a hard time at all. The fact that he has had limited computer time or is otherwise too busy is a perfect reason for someone else to get it started. I am trying to give him time. No one has heard from him for over a month, the whole Jan 28 deadline would make it 2 months. The problem is that everyone is going to give up on the whole thing altogether. I think most of us have submitted and resubmitted our addresses at least three times. I understand he has been doing the best he can, and that he took over a sinking ship. But do we want this thing to happen or not?
I am not big on talking about things. I am about DOING things! We have been talking about this thing for half a year now!! We could sit around for another 6 months talking about how great it is going to be. We can all resubmit out addresses again and even talk about it some more. But none of that is ever going to get this thing off the ground.

I agree with Scotti, Baker. Step down a bit. Some of us have talked to dpr, and EB is still in the works. It’s only been back up off the ground for a month or so, and it takes time to organize. Take a deep breath, buddy.
Oooops! Bear, I mean. Apologies, Baker.
If you just can’t wait, you could get in on some panties.
FTR: I debated long and hard about cross-posting the above thread here, but I don’t think it should produce hard feelings on either side, and it should give Bear a creative outlet.
No apologies needed Nymysys. Thanks anyway.
Hey, I’m up for it!
The bear is packing.
My apologiues for my absence (damn festive season and family ) everyone who has emailed will recieve an email tomorrow. The bear will be on its way within a week. Instructions, conditions blah blah blah will be in the email.
Hope you all had a great Xmas.

Hi,
Is it to late to get in on this? I live by Cleveland, OH and have alot of contacts in this area. I can probably get her into the rock hall, the top of the terminal tower, the playhouse, the jake, browns stadium, and many other places of interest. I MAY(A big MAY) even be able to get her picture taken with various popular bands/celebs such as Stabbing Westward, Filter, Jakob Dylan, or even Trent Reznor. A friend of mine is a Exotic Dancer at one of the premier clubs in cleveland and has met many celebs and even dated a few. Of course, it all depends on who is in the area at the time and if there were any bad feelings between my friend and the various celebs when they broke up.
I will be going to VA in 2001 as well as in 2002, so EB can see the sights around Lynchburg VA, WV, and perhaps VA Beach and/or Newport News. I can then drop her off in the WV or VA area to the next person on the list.
Doper, Ill email you my email.

dpr, on 12/27 you said that everyone who had sent an email would recieve one “tomorrow” which would be 12/28. I sent an email but did not ger the one you mentioned. Should I email you again?
What Baker said.
Hi dpr,
I also haven’t heard from you. Am I on your list?
Bump. Just want dpr to know we are all still interested.
I’m in for Seoul, S. Korea!! E-mail on the way…
If I have time, I’ll try to get her up to the DMZ…
If you haven’t received this email in the past week then perhaps you’d better email me direct and quickly!!!
G’day all and thanks for your patience,
As I’m sure you can appreciate my recent computer problems haven’t helped my absent-minded life let alone the evil bitch world tour.
This is the bit where I type something like “Congratulations you’ve been hand-selected to play host to very special teddy bear…” so we’ll just skip that and move on.
The bear will be leaving in the next five or six days. We’ve chosen the route and with a late rush are now finalising the details. What we DO know is it’ll start US East coastish (it’s a secret).
What we want you to do is final confirmation. Not everyone sent their full address last time so to confirm that you definitely want to be part of this silliness you have to email us one more time with your full address EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE SO!
And just a few quick words on what we expect of you: basically we want the bear to have a good time. Show her around, snap a few pics (especially pics with dopers) and then pass her on. You will be responsible for postage as well as filling out her journal. If you’re the co-ordinator for a region we want you to make sure she gets to meet as many dopers in the area as possible.
If you agree to these terms and conditions then email now! Do it quickly and you’ll receive… well a bear in the mail sometime soon.
Hope you’re all well and happy and the new century starts well for you. Hope to hear from you soon.

Australian Bert Hinkler took off from London in a two-seat Avro 581E Avian biplane on the first leg of his solo flight from England to Australia. The unassuming Hinkler's grueling flight was little noted by the press until he reached India, then the world press got caught up in the drama of another "Lone Eagle" performance so soon after Charles A. Lindbergh's transatlantic flight. As he plotted a course across Asia and the Timor Sea using a London Times atlas as his navigational chart, a newspaper editor dubbed him "Hustling Hinkler.” On February 22, after flying 128 hours in less than 16 days, Hinkler's 11,250-mile adventure ended in Darwin, Australia. dpr, I tried emailing you but it came back as undeliverable. I used the address provided by your profile. Maybe this is part of the computer problems you mentioned. Do you have another address? Meanwhile, I am going to try it once more, just in case.
Bump.
dpr, I have now tried both of your addresses but both came back listed “undeliverable” My email address is corrected in my profile, PLEASE try and contact me there, I really really really want to host EB.
If anyone is having difficulty sending their details to dprsend them through to me as I will be meeting up with him tomorrow night to finalise everything.

** THIS IS IT!!! **
This is your last chance to jump on board. We initially received 64 US replies but alas when we sent out last week’s email for confirmations only 37 got back to us.
If you haven’t received a confirmation email by tomorrow morning you’d better email us very quickly if you want to be part of the tour. At the moment only those who emailed this week confirming are on the list. So if you were part of the initial 64 but haven’t conmfirmed please do so quickly.
We’re still missing a number of states too particularly in the scenic mid-west and southern states.
Please remember that you are responsible for getting EB to the next destination on the address list.
