Back in the day I had played the crap out of Master of Orion and Master of Magic. I saw that a new version of the latter had come out recently so I gave it a shot. I like it a lot. It’s a pretty faithful recreation (at least as best as I can tell for a game I last played back when games came on floppy disks) and it has that great One More Turn quality that good civ games have. It took me a few false starts to remember how to play well enough to not get overrun quickly but once I got going I had a blast playing.
