Which computer game would you like to see remade?

Generally I don’t like old titles rereleased on the new generation consoles. I’ve played The Last of Us on the PS3, why would I want to pay full price for a remastered version for the PS4? However, some games demand they be remade with the power of the current generation.

My main contender would be System Shock 2. When I played that game for the first time I was truly terrified that Xerxes seemed to know my every move around the ship. When I replayed it a few year ago I realised that this was just clevery scripted events. But how amazing would this game be if Xerxes had the AI of the alien in Alien:Isolation, and would really know what you were up to and tried to block you at every turn?

What old games would you like to see with the new computing power of consoles and PCs?

No One Lives Forever.

A fun first-person shooter in an “Austin Powers” style. A fun game, but it was the writing and humor that really made it.

Ultima IV.

The old Police Quest series. They were my favorite games back in the day. I’d imagine a modern version might strongly resemble LA Noire.

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Now with actual graphics!

Mail Order Monsters
Project Firestart

Much of the old Sierra Games but especially the Manhunter Series.

It looks like someone remade Masters of Magic, but it sounds like a hot mess. I sure wouldn’t mind seeing this one again, done right.

I don’t even need a remake of MoM. The core gameplay could be identical and I’d be happy. I just want updated graphics and AI. Anything on top of that (new races/units/spells/heroes/buildings) would be pure gravy.

Elemental: War of Magic was a valiant effort (once they’d corrected their horrific launch issues), but I don’t want a spiritual successor. I want Master of Magic 2015.

I seem to recall liking V more, though it would kind of need IV for the setup.

Roadwar 2000 was a nice Mad Max-inspired late-80s game with turn-based vehicle combat. Ramming a motorcycle with a bulldozer or firing a broadside from a school bus was nice, but it was all just basic icons at the time and I’d love to see better visualizations.

You would think that this would be a great game to show up on GOG, but Warner has a bunch of a-holes running the show. I guess it was too much work to sign some papers for free money.

Full Throttle by Lucasarts. With some extra gameplay and no action sequencies.

City of Heroes (COH/COV).

Great game, graphics, animation, character creation/modification tool, etc…

Nothing out now compares to it.

Has there been a decent, newer version of Star Wars: X-Wing? If not, I’d like one of those, please. And have the wingmen be more useful than a string of tin cans tied to your rear bumper, please.

I’d even play the old CoH with the old graphics. :frowning:

“Diablo” as an fps.- Not Diablo 2 or 3, but the original, the one with a relatively small scope (only one town instead of hundreds), the one where you could restart from scratch but using your overpowered character and the enemies didn’t respawn.

Koei Games Romance of the Three Kingdoms 3 and Uncharted Waters. Also I wish we could have a modern version of the Sega Genesis game Abrams Battle Tank.

Sentinel Worlds: Future Magic
Darklands

Both titles were heavy on plot and story.

I will never forget playing Sentinel Worlds, during one instance asking a seemingly innocuous question then the next moment being in an all-out firefight. In a bar. Everyone against everyone else. It was the greatest thing I’d ever seen.

V was definitely the better game at the time, but I think IV has more interesting possibilities for a remake. Though if you liked Ultima V, the Lazarus ‘remake’ is freaking amazing. Requires Dungeon Siege (the original) but that’s $1.74 on Steam right now. :stuck_out_tongue:

My “I want to see a remake” game is Starflight. Or Starflight 2. Or Star Command. (Not actually that similar to Starflight, but also a game I really like.) I mean, seriously, why hasn’t there been a real open world “You have a space ship, go do stuff” game in this long?

You’re being transferred to Chicago.

I’m still waiting for Manhunter: London.

How do you remake an adventure game that most people who were interested in it at the time have already solved? Maybe a modified version that goes all the way to the end of the second book / TV series / first radio series…
