What video games would you like to see remade with current, up-to-date graphics and sound, maybe some bug fixes? No other changes in game play, etc–just modern eye candy and other relatively minor updates.
My votes are for:
Jedi Knight/Mysteries of the Sith Mechwarrior: Mercenaries (I would kill for a bug fixed version with reduced pop-up…) Tie Fighter (Yes I know it already was updated with the X-wing vs Tie fighter engine, but I want StarLancer quality graphics, darn it).
Tutankamen: Think of a cross between Tomb Raider and Quake.(Only easier than both)
My Fantasy remake would be Final Fantasy 3 (6) with in game graphics completly redone for Playstaion 2.
Autoduel. Update it with Grand Theft Auto style graphics and modern sound effects. The only gameplay changes I’d make are to enlarge the area the game covers (all of North America instead of just the northeast US) and add the cars and equipment in the Car Wars RPG that didn’t make it to the computer game version.
(And if you say, “What’s that?”, you’re not a true gamer… )
And to Hibbins: Tempest has been remade several times already, including Tempest 2000 (Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn), Tempest X (Sony Playstation), and Tempest 3000 (for the Nuon multimedia thingie). I personally recommend Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar, just because it’s so intense you’ll be glued to your sofa for a year…
Disney’s Stunt Island hands down. It was a kick ass game back in the early 90’s, even with it’s polygon graphics (although the Gourard shading was state of the art). And it still’s kicks ass. At least it would if Windows ME could run DOS games that need that much conventional memory (yes, I’m bitter).
I can only imagine what that project might look like today if they re-did it. You could probably make and market a better Pearl Harbor than the one coming out this weekend.
I wish Nintendo would do an update for the original Legend of Zelda and Zelda II, with updated graphics just like on SuperNES, like they did with the Mario games for Super Mario All-Stars. I heard Nintendo already did that with the first Zelda game but it was only available on a satellite service in Japan.
Archon! Always loved that game. I’ll also vote for Mail Order Monsters (which borrowed Archon’s goblin sprite, so they might as well ) and Paradroid. Actually, I liked Paradroids graphics fine (such as they were) – I just want to see it re-released.
from the NES:
Elevator Action
River City Ransom
Magic of Shaharazade (sp?)
Does anyone else remember Magic of Shaharazade? It was an RPG that came out somewhere between 1988-1990, I think. It was one of my favorite games of all time. It was well put together, and the graphics and sound were really good for the time that it came out too.
My favorite NES game: Bionic Commando. It MUST be remade! In 3D! (Think of the hook shot from N64 Zelda as the primary mode of transport for a gun-totin’ ass-kicking commando!)
