We picked up our puppy from the humane society on Saturday. The basenji mixes we were going to get had already been adopted, so we got another little ball of fluff instead. She looks maybe like a border collie/beagle/lab/something else mix (I’m going on coloring alone…she’s pretty little and doesn’t have very big paws, so who knows what she is).
We named her Charlie, short for Charleston (so that when we no longer live in SC, we’re still reminded of our time here).
She’s about 10 weeks old and has done remarkably well for such a little puppy. She’s chewing away at her appropriate toys (a big rope, a stuffed chicken, and a pig’s ear) and she’s going to the door to be let out. I’m very impressed.

Hubby had me sign a contract saying “no more dogs”… when we got the 4th.

Holy cow, you live in Charleston? I lived in Charleston the last four years! Now I’m in New York, though…

Well, we actually live in Surfside (about an hour and a half north), but we didn’t want to name her “Surfie”.
We plan to be out of here within three years or so (unless we both get offered, out of the blue, really killer jobs that force us to work in South Carolina), so we named her in commemoration of the state, and Charleston is just gorgeous.
Are you in NYC? Man, I miss snow…but I guess right about now, you might be missing the 80 degree sunny weather we had this past weekend.
