The New Slipknot Album- Very Decent!

I usually am pretentious enough to consider myself above listening to the endless parades of crunch by number heavy bands that are all over right now, but I caved in and bought the new Slipknot album, Iowa and it’s pretty solid. It recalls some of the better stuff that Slayer did/does. (Only a couple of days until the new Slayer album! Yay!!)

I got it mainly to prepare myself for the upcoming Pledge Of Allegiance Tour, featuring Slipknot, System of a Down, Rammstein and Mudvayne. October 7! Yeehaw!

I will also be taking hits in the wallet so I can go see Godsmack live (supported by Disturbed and Drowning Pool) on the 30th of this month, and maybe I will make the effort to see TOOL in October, too, but that may prove too difficult to get tickets to.

Well, back to the main topic- the new Slipknot album is surprisingly awesome, a couple of times it had me banging my head right here in my room, especially on the song “Left Behind” it kicks ass!

Note: In this post I claim to be above the crunch by number bands and then stop to think that I am anxiously awaiting new albums from Mudvayne, Slayer and Kittie, as well as having tickets in hand to see Disturbed and Drowning pool. Dang. Might as well subscribe to Hit Parader

Well, Lucky Charms I am also awaiting the new Slayer album but anxious might not be the best way to describe it. Apprehensive is probably the word.

It sounds like you have the right spirit, and maybe mainstream horror-rock is your thing, but if I may could I suggest you take a listen to the following band. I think you may enjoy their creativity and depth. Perhaps not, but I have to reach out anyway.

In Flames - Clayman. This is arguably the best of the bands to come out of Gothenburg, Sweden. Their sound is described as melodic death metal but it is a misnomer to be sure. They have growling and clean vocals as well as catchy riffs and more melody than you’ll hear anywhere else. They are opening for Slipknot in the UK BTW.

As for concerts, I will he at the Megadeth show on Friday and I still haven’t decided if I will go see Judas Priest/ Anthrax/ Iced Earth on Saturday, ticket prices are pretty steep.

Rock on !

::smile… snort… cough… ugghh… BWAHAHAHAHAAAHAHA!!!::

Hey…do you guys know who’s gona headline the Pledge of Alligiance tour? I’m hoping it’s rammstein, cause there is no way in hell that i’m wasting 50 bucks on watchin slipknot(gag)and mudvayne. Rammstein should be the obvious headliners, otherwise they’d spoil all the other band’s preformances, as family values 98 proved.

Well, I think that System Of A Down and Slipknot are co-headlining for Pledge of Allegiance. I hear hear you on the too-good support bands.

When I saw Kittie the first time, Mudvayne opened for them. They rocked SO much harder than Kittie. It was such a letdown to have the show go down a notch for the headliners to come out.

Very well then, who is the best band to come out of Sweden ?

My Top Ten list:

Entombed
In Flames
Arch Enemy
Opeth
The Crown
The Haunted
Soilwork
The Black League
Meshuggah
Hypocrisy

You miss the point:

It seemed to me to be a VERY dubious honor to be ARGUABLY the best band to come out of one city in Sweden.

My bad if that didn’t come across.
