The New Xbox

Out of all the games shown, Ryse looked to be the worst, and D4 the best, IMHO.

I don’t know. Will people spend $500 (+ xbox fee) for a yet another version of Forza and Halo and a couple of other “exclusive”* games?
*- exclusives not actually exclusives. Many of the “exclusive” games mentioned are coming to PC too including Titan, Dark Souls 2, and Dead Rising 3.

True. But if they match the price, I’m expecting Sony’s PSN to become a lot more like Xbox Gold.

Too much cash for me to spend!
I only EVER owned Nintendo stuff… after the Wii, I’m holding off on the Wii U, but it looks like I’ll have to wait longer than E3 to see which I will choose, XB1, PS4, or Wii U.

Xbox Gold is actually becoming more like PS Plus - they announced that Gold members will be getting two free games a month. I don’t see Sony reversing course and going pay-to-multiplayer any time soon.

That’s only until the xbone ships. If they take a severla hundred dollar hit on hardware and NOT charge for multi-player/streaming services, where are they going to get the money to subsidize millions of consoles?

Sony is not in any position to take the hit. They’re in deep financial shit as it is right now and a failed PS4 would kill them. But a successful PS4 that sells for much less than it costs to make them would kill them just as fast.

I thought the PS4 was rumored to go for $399. When do we find out?

I heard the Sony conference is at 6.
The only Microsoft “exclusive” that really caught my attention is also coming out for PCs.
And who knew the Romans were at D-Day?

I just read an article last night that this may be the last edition of gaming consoles coming out. No more new XBoxes or PlayStations after.

Yikes. I figured part of controlling the used game market and charging fees for re-homing games, playing used games, digital distribution controls, etc. meant that they’d allow an even bigger subsidy to the hardware. $500 and all those downsides on top? Harsh.

Did that information come from Michael Pachter? He said $399 for the Xbox One and $349 for PS4 like a week ago, and he’s already well on his way to being dead wrong, like he pretty much always is.

I have no idea who that is, so I’m not sure.

It did.

He’s a video game analyst that is wrong so often it’s painful. YouTube commenters know more about the games industry than he does. Hell, SenorBeef and Kinthalis know more about the console game market than Michael Pachter does.

That $399 has no basis in any kind of Sony announcement. It’s a pure ass-pull from a guy known for them.

I know quite a lot about the console game market. Certainly more than the average console user. That’s a weird/fail attempt at an insult.

Just take the COMPLIMENT Beef. Don’t make me have to explain it.

Seriously? It’s not a compliment. Saying “this guy knows so little that [even these other people who know little] know a lot by comparison”. You put us below youtube users in an effort to try to demonstrate just how little we know. There’s no possible way you could’ve meant that as a compliment, and it’s pathetic to even try to somehow represent that. It’s ironic since I so regularly demonstrate superior knowledge on this subject to you anyway.

You seriously come up with the most pathetic attempts to try to retroactively change what you claim to have meant.

Who are these idiots anyway? I’ve never heard anything out that guy’s mouth that ever made any sense.

Sigh.

Pachter knows jack shit about the games industry. Yet, he is made an enormous salary by Wall Street to give them advice about the games industry. Most of this advice is transmitted in private, but Pachter regularly release public notes that are always screamingly wrong.

You are just a dude on a message board. You are not paid a tremendous sum of money for your knowledge of the console games market. You’re actually a PC guy, so why would you even be expected to know anything about the console market. Yet, you do. Because you’re also a smart guy and don’t go shooting off your mouth unless you know what you’re talking about.

Now please, for the love of god, take the COMPLIMENT.

They’re Wall Street analysts that are employed by some of the big investment firms (Pachter works for Wedbush) to supply information on the game industry to their clients. Most of them don’t seem to know very much, but Pachter is particularly stupid.

99% of all “Nintendo is doomed” hysteria link back to him in some way. He was one of the first to float the “they should just give up” theory and he continually ignores Nintendo’s profitable quarters to push Microsoft.

Basically, he’s a fanboy who is paid to be a fanboy.

Your whole point is to talk about how little this guy who, despite doing it for a living, knows very little about the topic. So you say youtube users know more than him. Youtube commenters are known for being dumb, so you’re saying “this guy is so dumb he knows less than youtube commenters”, then, you say “hell, [statement]”, meaning "I am making an even more powerful statement, an even more extreme example than Youtube users. Even Kinthalis and Beef, who know so little that I’m putting them below youtube commenters, know more than this guy.

The idea that you’re trying to compliment my knowledge is absurd. You’re using me as an example of someone who knows so little about it that it’s amazing that somehow this professional knows even less. You’re using me as a reference of lack of knowledge to use as a springboard to insult him.

If I didn’t know you better, I’d be sure you were just screwing with me now, but I think you’re actually reallllllly bad at the whole communicating thing.
