“Subsidies” means tax breaks?
I like the word squirmish. Not for what she used it for, but for a little fake fight. You just squirmed a little bit.
I agree, and I also dislike her greatly. You gotta let a single slip of the tongue slide, especially when a person is frequently being recorded.
And it’s not like we won’t have more future incidents of genuine dumbfuckery from her to mock.
The stupidity factor is not just the number of stupid things a politician says, but the ratio of smart ones to stupid ones. Has Palin ever said anything halfway intelligent? I’m not counting rabble rousing things like death panels - not stupid in that they were lies for a political purpose, but not smart either.
Remember the interviews? A reasonably intelligent person would have worked hard, done additional interviews, aced them, and everyone would write her bad ones off to nerves. However it seems the McCain people kept her away from the press, and the stuff I read makes it sound like she wasn’t interested in actually learning anything.
She is stupid, and her degree from MIT (Middle Idaho Telecasting) doesn’t change that.
In defense of her reality show subsidy Palin said this: “If you’re going to accuse me of benefiting from legislation I signed into law, why stop there? One could accuse me of ‘benefiting’ from my administration’s oil and gas evaluation legislation in the sense that due to that legislation the state where I live now enjoys a $12 billion surplus. In fact, you could say that as an Alaskan, I benefited from all of the legislation I signed as governor - just as every Alaskan benefited.”
Interesting analogy. Is Palin under the impression that most Alaskans have their own reality show?
Psst: it was intentional. See the item about her taking money for her show.
I would like to refudiate that statement.
My favorite: ““I’ve said many times that government can play an appropriate role in incentivizing business, creating infrastructure, and leveling the playing field to foster competition so the market picks winners and losers, instead of bureaucrats”.
I agree. I also think parents should do their kids’ homework for them, so that the kids do their own homework, instead of the parents.
Why does a reality show about Alaska require a tax incentive to film in Alaska?
My WAG: incentive for a film crew to go there? (I’m not exactly confident in that guess)
“Needs more Tar…!”
“Needs more Feathers!”
“Needs more Tar…!”
“Needs more Feathers!”
“Needs more Tar…!”
“Needs more Feathers!”
“Needs more Tar…!”
“Ummm…we’re getting low on tar.”
“Sigh Well, it’ll just have to do…”
Sarah Palin wasn’t *enough *incentive? Seems like it’d be a given to film Sarah Palin’s Alaska in…oh, I dunno, Vancouver?
That’s correct. It’s quite possible that without an incentive, the show wouldn’t have gotten off the ground, budget-wise. Not that that wouldn’t have been a bad thing.
They might have made the Palin show without the incentives based on the idea that a mass of Tea Baggers would watch it (wonder how it actually did ratings-wise), but there’s a couple of other Alaska based reality shows on the air that might not have been made without the incentives.
RI offers incentives for filming here, for reasons that make no sense to me. We can’t be getting enough back in the economy to make it worth while.
