I can see Brett’s point, though, even though I think his timing was poor. She was getting praised up and down for her work, and without two fellow contestants helping her out, she would have bombed her plating and gotten the “your eggs were lovely but only half of us got X, Y, or Z on their plates; part of being a Food Network Star is working well under pressure, blah blah” talk. And I think the worst part is, she didn’t know how deep in the weeds she was until those two were on her about what else they could do, what else she had to do, etc. etc. Forget talk of “integrity”, let’s talk cluefulness.
If things continue as they are, I agree on your prediction. Boring Healthy Girl is looking more like a corporate or hospital nutritionist than a TV chef.
Brett got the karmic shafting he so richly deserved. Yeah, Mom was probably a little behind the 8 ball with her plating, but he and Teddy and two opinions: either help her, or don’t. It’s a competition… seems to me that the stand-up thing to do would have been to choose one or the other.
Korean girl was much better this week. I would have really liked to have tried her dish.
I think I have a mancrush on Jeffrey. He’s so cool. The premise of the challenge was dumb anyway - who makes a dish for groundhog day? I hate avocado and I would have tried that dish.
There’s a lot of hate for healthy girl (who reminds me of the runaway bride with the bulging eyes). I too think she is not long for the NFNS world.
Camp dude is probably a little too camp for prime time, and that beard bugs the hell out of me, but his food looks pretty good.
Jamika is really cute and looks like a hard worker… her dishes didn’t really float my boat but I was glad to see her win. I still haven’t forgiven Korean girl for her subterfuge the first week, and it looks like it’s coming back to bite her in the ass next week.
Bobby Flay is the perfect asshole for this show (and I mean that as a compliment). Giada’s massive head was quite distracting, and I realized she doesn’t look quite that attractive away from her show.
Speaking of Giada, whomever was responsible for this photo shoot should be fired.
Re. Boring Healthy Girl: Ooo, that’s what she was reminding me of, you’re right.
As for Giada, I don’t think she always wore plunging necklines on her show, did she? My theory is it’s to distract from the bobble-head effect. I had her show on, and was expounding upon this theory and her blatant “look at my huge… tracts of land” distraction to my husband. He said he didn’t think that was the case, and I paused the image on a fairly close shot of her leaning over the counter, neckline-a-plungin’. He had to concede that I may have a point.
