I wish that I felt worse about this. The Norm is on the short list of strips that I read every day…and has been for many years. I can’t really explain why though, because I’ve never really found it funny or illustrative of anything in particular. I guess that it just felt comfortable to me.
Well, I see only a very few people here were fans.
At one time I was sure he would be the next Dilbert.
But that was when the panels revolved around the office and dating.
Once he got into a bunch of family situations, in his own words he became more like For Better Or Worse. Which is a bad thing. Situations you can relate to that aren’t particularly funny, or worth repeating the next day to people you work with or who are dating.
So, he got stuck at the 75 newspaper level. Too big for the syndicate to promote as new, and too underachieving for them to promote as their top of the line.
Same idea as the fact that the mid-list book author is a bitter breed.
