The Obama Hype

If you had actually taken the time to understand the post, you’d have realized that it was exactly *on * topic.

What the fuck is your problem?
phlosphr, Chuck Cooper didn’t get off the bench much as a rookie, either.

I’m confused. The topic is “The Obama Hype” and you’re talking about basketball… and assuming anyone who wants to post on topic has a problem. In another thread, I wondered why you had a principled skepticism about critiques of every candidate but Obama, whom you are quick to dismiss and belittle with non-logical, non-factual criticisms. It was a fair question, but you deflected it out of interest of protecting the integrity of the thread. So which is it? Benefit of the doubt, or lynch mob? On topic, or wildly off?

Better go ask your English teacher to tell you about metaphors.

No - but it set the stage and the tone for the greatness that came after him in the NBA. [<-metaphor]
We talk on the same lines - and you hit me with Red Auerbach, I like that reference.

Phlosphr - devout, lifelong Celtics fan…

As for the thread - Carry on, I won’t interrupt.

Better go talk to your logic professor about false analogies. And yourself about why you’re a paragon of fairness in one thread and a niggling, petty carp in another.

The “greatness that came after him” happened years later, starting with Russell and Cousy and not Cooper - but not until they’d proven themselves both as players and as leaders first. Red’s teams won 16 NBA championships with players who didn’t just tantalize the fans with the hope that they could become great someday, but with guys who already were.

That’s the inexperience argument, with a supporting example. Metaphorically speaking, that is.

Well now all that’s true, but someone had to break the bench, and we know who I’m putting my money on here - and if a rookie prez can bring it, I’m all for it - or I should say I’m willing to take that bet.

Who has the NFL single-game rushing record?

Adrian Peterson.

A rookie.

Good lord, me too! I’d heard of him before that and was curious about this excellent orator, and he sure didn’t disappoint. I suppose I may as well be drinking chardonnay and eating brie while I type this, huh?

Indeed. I think there are serious reasons to be skeptical of Clinton, but the misogyny I hear from some of her detractors is pretty awful; I hope her fans can distinguish between legitimate criticisms (even those with which they disagree) and misogynistic ones.

As for the cult, I totally deny the charges, and if you persist in calling us a cult, I don’t care whether you’re my best friend or my mom or what, I’ll cut off all communication with you, just like Rev. Obama says to.

Daniel

In my experience, some can, and some cannot.

Sigh. You DO know that the Reverend Blessed Obama told you that this is one of the SECRET RULES and that you can’t repeat it? You must choose now between penance in the dessert, or excommunication… also in the dessert.

LOL!! that’s good!

No dessert for me, thanks, I’m watching my weight. I hear Obama’s thinking about taking on another wife…

Daniel

I like dessert. Is it pie?

I can’t wait to do my penance in a great big bowl of Vanilla Ice Cream with Hershey’s chocolate smeared all over it…and, then…OH Desert? Oh Ok

At least this is a message board and we can’t show the Clintonites the Rev.Obama’s ultra secret batman handshake.

No, Flavor-Ade.

OK, I misspelled it. Glad you all had your fun.

Thanks, it was pretty fun! I’m just trying to figure out whether “penance in the dessert” would be a good menu item, or if people would expect it to be full of laxatives.

Daniel

Or something very kinky.

Flags, maybe.
